I like this place.. 5 to 6 months out of the year I'm in a different hotel on weekends for work. Most of them are decent to nice at best, every once in a while I'll end up at a Ramada or something if my boss is feeling cheap but it's rare.
Home2 though, at least this Home2, has a lot of little good things going for it that add up, which you might not notice if you're not a hotel hopper, but I wish I stayed at more of them throughout the year rather than just once.
Breakfast is great for not having a chef, imho. I like to take breakfast to go or pack a lunch and snack but a lot of hotels are shifting their food away from being able to easily do that (yogurt in a big bowl vs a mini yogurt container for example). But this morning I grabbed 2 yogurts, 3 mini oranges (tangerines?), cereal in a coffee cup (since they had mini milk containers instead of a large sharable container), and I could have taken one of several microwave breakfast sandwiches or egg bowls too if I didn't already have a sandwich packed for lunch..
While my boss is watching something dumb on tv I can go to the lobby to watch TV. There's a few public computers openly accessable. The rooms are nice and spacious, and I like that the shampoo and body wash is built into the shower wall. They offer free WiFi and an Ethernet connection in the rooms, so if you want to hook up a travel router to Chromecast your own movies to the tv, or create your own private network so all your devices can communicate, or if you just have slow\bad wifi (which I did not), you can..
It's overall just a pleasant stay. They have a BBQ grill and fire pit outside too, and although I've seen the fire pit get turned on at another smokers request during the winter, I'm not sure if you can just fire up one of the gas powered grills and start cooking, but they're there and I've never asked...
On weekends, just remember to ask for a maid to service your room. It's by request only on Saturday and Sunday.
But if you've read this far and you're on the fence with booking a room here, I can't imagine you'd regret it unless you demand a fresh omelette cooked on the grill for breakfast...
It has a "hipster vibe" to it, but it's not like "paper straws" type of hipster. It's more like "take whatever you want for breakfast, use a computer, and enjoy the convenience of having your soap built into the wall" hipster. I fox...
Read moreLove, love, love this hotel. No other hotel in York can compare with the friendliness, comfort, convenience, professionalism and benefits of staying here at Home2 Suites. For us, having a well appointed hotel room with a separate bedroom whenever we travel is what we seek, and this hotel has never been a disappointment. We have lots of family members in the PA area who very graciously offer their hospitality to us, but a vacation just doesn't feel right if we don't have our own quiet and comfortable nest in which to relax at the end of the day. Every single employee with whom we have ever had contact over the years has been very friendly, articulate, knowledgeable, and they truly give us travelers the feeling that they appreciate our business and they are thankful that we chose to stay at this Home2 Suites. The location of this hotel is also fantastic. In just a couple of minutes we're on the 83 or 30 heading out for a day of fun activities. Regardless of which direction you choose, south central PA is absolutely beautiful, and there are tons of indoor & outdoor activities to pique your interest all throughout the year. During our last month long vacation from our home in SoCal to PA we decided to look seriously for another home. Ironically unfortunate, we ended up purchasing a home here in York. It's unfortunate because we just spent another enjoyable vacation here at Home2 Suites that's located only a few miles away from the home we purchased while having some contractors work on the house. So once we have the house set up for ourselves we will no longer be pampered with staying here at the Home2 Suites, which really saddens us because we absolutely LOVE...
Read moreDon't get to vacation often so this was a treat. Arrived at 8am just to see what there process was (check-in time wasn't till 3pm) and they had a room available for us right then and there, we were welcomed to have breakfast and then head to our room. First the room: very spacious bedroom, bathroom was nice the shower could of have been a bit larger felt like I hit a wall every time I moved, kitchen was small and convenient for what we needed, fold out bed my daughters loved and the main bedroom was amazing...made it hard to get up and do anything. Hotel: very easy to get around, there appeared to be some issues with the elevators that were fixed quickly, every member of the housekeeping staff were friendly and very helpful with a few things that came up, the people at the front desk you would think would be the friendliest but never came across that way except for this one guy who appeared to be training but didn't see him the last few days of our trip. Breakfast was okay, the area is small and options are minimal after getting my family their food together I'd wait for 3-5 minutes just to get to the waffle machine (really should consider a second one) they are amazing. They have a pool that is only 4ft deep but is indoor and comfortable to jump into.
Overall I really enjoyed the stay and would definitely stay again. Nice surrounding area if you need a quick pick up for food. About 1hr 30min...
