2 stars is only for the food. It was the worst place my husband and I have eaten in a long time. Avoid wasting your time here. We went only because my husband has never been and I have been to one ihop before, not this one. I was expecting it to be like the previous one I went to. First, the hostess was nice, but did not know how to seat people. Then the waiter came and either it was his first day and had no training or he is a horrible worker...I don't know. He didn't bring silverware. I asked for coffee and he did not offer a pitcher. The table was not stocked well, stole sugar from another table. We asked for silverware and he left to get it. We waited way too long for it and took some from an empty table. He came back with some explaining that he had to roll some. Meanwhile, lots of staff not doing anything. One was leaving (she could have done some stocking, rolling silverware, clearing tables that still had dishes when we left) and another staff member's family (I'm assuming boyfriend and kids) came and was seated next to us. The staff member was basically wasting company time chatting and just being unprofessional. Also when their food came out she was picking food off the plates as she was bringing it out. I get it's her family, but this is unprofessional to patrons of the restaurant. I got my food and it was incorrect. I ordered a griddle combo - french toast, 2 eggs over medium, hashbrowns, bacon separate on another plate. The eggs were scrambled, bacon under the food. I sent the eggs and hashbrowns back and asked for it to be corrected. Then the workers in the kitchen were yelling and making a lot of noise. I'm assuming they don't know what over medium means, because they came back just barely cooked and coated in butter. The hashbrowns were raw and burnt at the same time. My husband's food just looked like dog food. Also no butter on his pancakes (the waiter dropped it and promised to bring more, but never did. We ate quickly and tipped only because we heard the hostess ask if he got any cash tips from the 2 other tables there before us and no one tipped him. We just felt bad because he was the only one (poorly) working the tables. The music was also inappropriate for a restaurant and very loud. I felt like I was in a food court in a mall or a high school cafeteria. I did not expect such shitty service and disrespectful workers. We couldn't even figure out if there was manager. Very trashy. We will not be returning and will let our friends know as well. I'd rather go to...
Read moreMy wife and I used to come here every week for approximately a year. We now only come on my daughter's birthday as she get's free pancakes. Our food has usually been very good and the wait staff has been very attentive and friendly. What bothers us is that the wait staff are required to bus tables. On multiple occasions we watched wait staff bring food to a table, then pick up a rag and wipe down tables, put the rag down and rearrange all the syrup bottles, then go get new silverware and reset the table. Next , they go to the kitchen and pick up an order of food and deliver it to a table. They don't spend enough time in the kitchen to have washed their hands before picking up the food-less than 30 seconds. Then they might pick up the dust pan and broom and sweep under a table. Then go to the kitchen and pick up more food. And the same rag is used on multiple tables without rinsing it out. All they do is smear the syrup all over the table. The same rag is used on the seats so they are sometimes sticky as well as the table tops. I don't know if this is a health code violation or not. My son who has worked in other restaurant chains says it's common practice. I think it's gross. At a minimum they should wear gloves when cleaning and remove them before touching plates of food. On the 1 or 2 occasions that they seemed to have a bus person, the bus person did the same things as described above including helping wait staff bring orders to the tables. I know you want to provide fast service and that it can get very busy, but you need to wash your hands before touching people's plates of food. And it takes more than a quick rinse to clean your hands. There should be bus staff that do nothing but clear and clean tables. They should never touch customer's orders. They should wear gloves and the rag should be cleaned before moving on to another table. Otherwise you are just smearing syrup, coffee, food, etc as well as germs from one table to another. I also saw menus being wiped off with the same rag used to clean the table and seats. I retired as a paramedic in DC and also worked at Johns Hopkins. I had to wash my hands after each interaction with a patient. It's a pain, but it's necessary to keep people from getting sick. Think about it. Would you eat...
Read moreDO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! My fiance and I had a gift card and decided to stop and give IHOP a try. We arrived, and as we were walking in 4 staff members were outback smoking and screaming profanities with their uniforms and name tags on, red flag #1. We then entered the restaurant and noticed it was busy. We were not greeted with a hello, the hosted just stared. I gave her our name and asked how long of a wait, the hostess advised us it would be 15 minutes and we were willing to wait. We were then seated 15 minutes later and our waitress came over to take our drink order. The waitress did not say hello or even mention her name. We waited another 15 minutes for her to return with our drinks and take our food order. We then waited about 40 minutes for our food and when it came out you can tell it was sitting as it was cold. My fiance had ham with his meal that didn't even taste like ham, the hash browns were a mix of raw potatoes and burt potatoes and the waitress never once checked back to see if the food was satisfactory. When we received the bill and we were charged 99 cents for cheese and 5 dollars for a refill each of coffee in which we had to flag down the waitress for 15 minutes to get. The wait staff is rude and unprofessional. The layout of the building is terrible and so cramped and crowded and the place is very dirty for being so new. Overall this was a terrible experience and the waitress didn't even say thank you or ask if there was anything else we needed (we had to grab ketchup from another table because we couldn't find our server). Ihop in york needs to wipe out their staff, including management and...
