We stopped in for some drinks. 1st drink was a stone grilled Lager. It looked like a light lager. The taste was crisp and had a strong flavor. 2nd drink was a Guinness stout. Always a fav. Then we got Moscato wine. Onto the appetizer. Brussel sprouts. They were crispy, salty, and buttery. With some Parm over them. We also ordered the pretzel sticks. With beer cheese. The beer cheese was so watered down, it was concerning. Looked like it was dipping into water. The taste was not to be desired. We both ended with a cream of crab soup and French onion soup. The crab soup was very tasty and delicious. I probably will never return here. The vibes at the bar ( where we sat) was not great. The bartender had signs all over her with her Venmo to help her pay for her Nashville trip. It felt pushed. Instead of giving us excellent service we had to make sure we gave her something for this trip. Other than that. The food was decent

The food was cheaply made and overpriced. I ordered the pecan-encrusted salmon that cost over $20. It was a small slither with slight nut dust across the top drowned in maple syrup. The mashed potatoes were well seasoned; however, the consistency (as a cook myself) told me it was more potato flakes than potato. The Asparagus was the most impressive. They put three stalks and sliced them down the middle to appear as six. My guest ordered a $31 steak with potato and a colossal broccoli stalk. The reheated, dried-up potato and the oversized broccoli could have been chopped and seasoned with a less-than-par sauce. However, they cooked the steak and mussels and the appetizer clam perfectly. By the way, the bar is worth the trip; skip the honky tonk front dining area dining food with gourmet prices. Putting a sub-par meal on a pretty plate does not justify the price. Visit The Post in York, Pa. Their food is 100% worth every penny.

Literally the worst service I've ever had in any restaurant. We walked in and stood at the hostess area where a guy with a ponytail looked right through us and my husband finally said "hello." Should have left then. I noticed that we had a different server than other tables so I can't speak for all but ours was horrible. I think she was asleep. 2 Ceasars (very light dressing) a soup (instant bullion) and appetizerof shrimp effing drenched in sauce) and we barely dented them. When asked how they were (almost full plates mind you) I said "pretty gross actually" as I was over it at this point. And nothing. Whisked the plates away with further rudeness and then other workers started to look at our table. I don't like to leave bad reviews and don't usually do it but this was particularly deserving. Also, it wasn't very clean. Hopefully your experience will be better. Maybe it was a one off? Horrible. Never again.

Mediocre Food, Higher Prices Than Expected, Decent Service Staff, Poor Management- Customer Service, Nice Decor

My friends and I have a 'Wednesday Night Happy Hour' group that usually meets in the New Cumberland/Harrisburg area, but we have a member that lives south of York, so decided to meet closer to him this week. After researching a couple places, I suggested Stone Grille & Taphouse. This decision was based on their website stating, "Monday Thru Friday 4:30 - 6:30 Lounge Only 1/2 Price Appetizers, 1/2 Price Select Craft Drafts, 1/2 Price well Drinks, & 1/2 Price Domestic Drafts". Sounded like a good special, especially for a GROUP OF 7, looking to relax, eat, drink, and have a good time. Problem is, it's a BAIT AND SWITCH situation.

Due to traffic I was running later than I wanted, but I still arrived in time to enjoy the happy hour specials, (or so I thought). I quickly ordered a couple beers and 3 appetizers for myself and to share with my friends, (Calamari, Sliders, and Lettuce Wraps), none of which were really all that spectacular, but for 1/2 price, I wasn't complaining. That changed when my bill came and all of my appetizers were full price. I'm not typically one to complain, but $15 difference in my bill was worth talking to someone. That's when I found out that only 'SELECT' Appetizers were included. Thats when they handed me the 5"x8" table-topper that listed the select appetizers in the bottom corner. Keep in mind, we were at one of the largest tables in the Lounge, and apparently there was supposed to be one of these mini menus on the table. We couldn't find one, but they were quick to hand me one when I asked why all 3 of my apps were full price.

I spoke with the manager, Dave, (not to be mistaken with the owner with the same name), I showed him their website and explained the situation. Specifically that the website states "Select Craft Drafts", but doesn't state "SELECT Appetizers". He excused himself for a minute, came back and said, "We go by these" - Pointing to the table-topper, and that was it. Apparently Customer Service isn't his specialty!!

I (now) understand your website is wrong, intentionally or not, but maybe make a slight effort to fix the current situation???? And if "Dave" is reading this, try something like this- "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Unfortunately, we have to go by the table-top menu and the apps you purchased are not included. Allow me to comp one of the apps for the misunderstanding and I'll make sure to have the website fixed to keep this from happening again." THAT solution would have had us coming back... Your solution has us never...

Update#2: I was in the mood for a steak dinner and my wife wanted something seafood, so we apprehensively returned here. This place has now gone from a hero to a zero in our book. Once again, without even asking us for our seating preference, we were taken directly to the outside patio area even though there were plenty of open tables inside. My NY strip steak was overcooked, tough, dry and tasteless. And my wife's crab cake smelled disgustingly fishy, a clear sign that the crab meat may have been old. This was just not an enjoyable dining experience. Our server was very personable and professional, but not enough to overcome the seating SNAFU and making us dine outside on the patio where it was uncomfortably hot. Update#1 This place is now on probation with my wife and me. Since moving to York in January, we've eaten here at least 10 more times, and we always tip 50% of the bill because service workers are still hurting from Covid restrictions. Two days ago we stopped in for lunch. Plenty of empty tables in the restaurant area, but the server immediately ushered us outside to the patio area adjacent to two large & noisy groups having an enjoyable time. My wife & I couldn't even speak to each other due to the loud noise level. So we did something we have never done before... we got up and walked out.

PREVIOUS REVIEW: The wait staff here at Stone Grille is second to none. These folks are awesome! Whenever my wife & I have come in for lunch or dinner, we were attended to very quickly and efficiently. Yes, there have been times we needed to wait for a table, but that's due to our preference to not eat at the bar or outdoors. With the Covid epidemic in full swing, it's refreshing to actually sit inside a nice restaurant and be attended to by the very professional wait staff. Every time that we've vacationed in York we made sure to eat here as often as possible because the quality of everything we've tried has been AAA+++. We always stay at the nearby Home2 Suites, so this restaurant was only a 2 minute drive away from our hotel. We've recently purchased a house in York that our daughter has moved into, and she has also become a huge fan of this place. If your looking for a restaurant that uses quality ingredients to prepare their food, instead of all those local diners that just reheat frozen food from BJ's or Sam's Club, take yourself to the Stone Grille and actually enjoy the taste of your food. Highly...

What a disaster. It was my first time since the renovation a year or so ago. We arrived at 6:30 on a Friday night and were told there would be a 30 minute wait, which is fine. There was absolutely no accommodations for people waiting for tables. We had to stand next to other customer's booths, moving 8-10 times to make way for servers and other customers. After 45 minutes we were seated in a space where only 2 of 5 of us could move freely, the other 3 being boxed in by other tables/customers. Our server was in over her head. We ordered at approximately 7:40 pm. One member of our group asked to substitute cheddar cheese for American cheese on sliders. The server told us the kitchen could not handle the substitution. I never heard of such a thing. The first sign of food we saw was an appetizer at roughly 8:25 pm, 45 minutes after ordering. In the meantime, 3 of us were out of something to drink for at least 10 minutes. One of our group actually went to the take out beer area to get a beverage. The rest of the meal, which was sliders, soups, sandwiches, etc, arrived at roughly 8:45PM, over 1 hour after being ordered. To top it off, we asked for napkins for a table of 5 and received 4 napkins. We requested ketchup and somewhat promptly, to our surprise, another worker appeared with what...you guessed it...turned out to be a ketchup bottle that was 99% empty. It got to the point that we were joking with the customers at the next table, which pretty much experienced the same thing we did. We asked to borrow their ketchup, which was also pretty much empty. We had a customer from another table offer us the remainder of their pizza because they felt bad for us. First time customer/last time customer. Oh, but I like what they did with...
