Bizarrely great experiences for a $52/night room. The family that owns it has put a lot of work into upgrading the property -- the granite slabs in the bathrooms & above the mini fridge and the mosaic tile work were clearly done by hand. Cheerful paint and the nicest pillows we've experienced in anything but an upscale hotel. Big flat screen TV and FULL DIRECTV -- we watched the Game of Thrones finale in our motel room! Dog friendly with a grass area to take your pups out, but do make sure you call ahead if you book online to let them know you need a pet friendly room.
Maybe the one negative would be that the family who works there aren't incredibly friendly, but I think they work very very long hours. We had a late check in our first stay, but noted that on our reservation, and we (proud of ourselves for this) arrived within 5 minutes of my estimated check in time. Had to press the button outside the lobby many times and wait about 5 minutes before anyone responded, & then waited an additional 5 minutes to be met in the lobby. Oh well, in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal, just made us a little anxious for a couple minutes that we would be having to find alternate arrangements at midnight in the bustling metropolitan city of Yreka. Oh, and no fans in the bathroom, so crank the TV if you need a little"privacy." Everything else insanely exceeded our expectations to the point where we were sending photos of the granite & tile work to our family after check in. We stayed here to break up our drive from Portland to LA, & were so pleased that we stayed again on our trip back. This is where we will stay each time we make this trek from now on.
Oh! One entertaining side note: The staff doesn't like to unwrap things apparently. A few of the lampshades still had the plastic wrap on them that said, "remove before use." We saw a planter outside that was in use but still wrapped as well. I guess it makes them...
Read moreThis is, without doubt, my favorite place to Stay in California. It's simple and low-budget, but the rooms are always spotless and well-appointed. The wireless is fast, and I've never had a single problem in over 10 years of staying here every year.||Beds are comfy and you get two different grades of pillow, just like fancier places. Housekeeping are efficient and done early in the day if you're staying a while. There are always plenty of spaces to park, even when it's full. It also doesn't look like they take long-term residents, so you don't have to worry about the usual sketchy denizens of budget motels.||Despite being located close to the main street and not too far from the interstate, it's quiet both inside and outside the rooms.||I have to highlight breakfast, as while it's the usual simple muffins, toast, and cereal, and you have to take it back to your room, the coffee is excellent (a really welcome change), and they actually have Marmalade available to go with your toast or muffins.||At this point, I think I've stayed in the Klamath Motor Lodge for around 50 nights since 2014, and will continue to book this every time I'm in town. During that time the management appears to have passed to the previous owner's son, but he has maintained the standards and is possibly even nicer to deal with on the counter. ||TVs have also been replaced a couple of times in those 10 years, so this is not a place where you encounter old...
Read moreExcellent! I am a female traveling solo with my large do and this photo is perfect for me and my needs. Property is well cared for, well lit, feels safe has a nice size area for your dogs to relieve themselves. Area is grassy and CLEAN + they have poop bags and waste disposal bin. They have pet designated rooms that DON’T have carpets. (Pet designated rooms with carpet are perplexing to me. I have a very well behaved, very well trained one year old dog who has only seen carpet a few times. So, old carpet that has been repeatedly soiled and then cleaned – why tempt fate?)|| The business owner was welcoming and warm, and did insure that I understood that my dog cannot relieve himself on the flowers and plants in the non-pet designated areas. Folks, I want to echo that, and ask that all of you pet owners out there please be thoughtful and responsible— the more of us there are, then the easier it is for a businesses like this to welcome us :)||Also, the shower was hot, the beds were comfortable, the pillows were comfortable, black out curtains worked perfectly, and there were enough outlet so that I can charge all five of my work devices.|Also, the lodge is independently, owned.||To the owners: thank you for putting up with us pet-toting customers and tolerating those of us that are not the...
