Hotel Oxford — Hotel in Montevideo

This is actually quite a nice hotel, despite some of the negative reviews, the room I stayed in on the 6th floor was recently refurbished, comfy bed, good shower and cleaned daily. Location is very good only a short walk to the main street. |Found a wonderful restaurant on the same street, Paraguay. "Montevideo Al Sur" well worth a visit.|While the staff at reception and the housekeeping staff are friendly. The ladies at the breakfast counter are the most sullen, unfriendly and unkempt, dirty uniforms, unprofessional bunch I ever cane across. Never a good morning or a please or thank you. Somebody should tell them that if there were no guests they would not have a job. Management should step up...

A godsend of a hotel. Check-in was a breeze, and we loved the free breakfast of scrambled eggs, pastries, toast, and cheese. Kids loved the flan and cakes. Even the free coffee here was decent! Our room was quite small - just big enough for 1 king and 1 twin - but arranged well so there was a little privacy for our teenager.||||Front desk speaks great English and was very helpful. Unfortunately no playgrounds for kids nearby, but they know where everything is and try their best to help! Free maps of the city are actually useful too, good for driving and not just the tourist spots.||||Clean and comfortable, with a spacious lobby. Highly recommended, and a steal at this...

Buenos días. Hago está reseña para que quede constancia de la ineficiente logística que tienen en el hotel. Soy uruguayo y tengo una empresa que trae extranjeros 3 o 4 veces en el año al Uruguay, por razones de trabajo. Normalmente nos quedamos 1 semana en hoteles y demás. El día domingo 4/9 nos alojamos en el hotel, con los extranjeros. Todo bien, todo en orden, solamente nos dieron una habitación más vieja que las nuevas que hay en los pisos elevados, pero todo con normalidad. El día lunes 5/9 nos retiramos del hotel e hice una reserva con un muchacho de nombre Luciano para los dias jueves, viernes y con opción al sábado de la misma semana. Llegó el día jueves, luego de un día cansador de trabajo, llegamos al hotel a las 19.15 hs aprox. Y nos comunican que NO había ninguna reserva realizada y que el hotel estaba completo. (Esta charla con los extranjeros clientes míos detrás escuchando todo) Luego de insistir que estábamos con extranjeros y que había realizado la reserva, nos dan la solución de ir a otro hotel supuestamente igual en cuanto a confort que el Oxford, este otro hotel es el "Hotel América". En el hotel America nos trataron pésimo de atención, pagamos habitaciones caras, en efectivo todo junto, y nos pidieron garantía con la tarjeta de crédito. Pero sobre todo lo que más me hizo estresar fue la asquerosidad de la mujer que nos atendió cuando llegamos. En esos hoteles no sé cumple lo del "cliente tiene la razón". Una soberbia, egocentrismo para atender a los huéspedes. Encima traía extranjeros, que bien que quedan algunos hoteles de Montevideo.

Por confiar me sucedió esto, debería haber reservado otro hotel por Booking.

Bueno en fin, nunca más vamos a volver a quedarnos nosotros y menos traer gente en grupo a su hotel, y si nos piden recomendación, van a perder plata porque no vamos a volver a mencionarlos nunca.

Una lastima, porque está vez fueron solo 3 personas, las del año que viene van a ser...
