Balmoral Plaza — Hotel in Montevideo

This was by far, the most disorganized hotel I have ever stayed at! When we arrived, they could not find our reservation. Not until we sent them a mail copy of our reservation, our booking was accepted. While we were waiting, other guests came in with the same problem. ||We were asked to sit down, while they prepared our room, which was not ready, in spite of the fact that it was after the normal check in time. After a long wait, we were told that it would take at least one more hour, because the hotel was fully booked! Don’t they have staff enough to be fully booked?||We went out for a couple of hours and came back to finally get the keys to our room, just to see that the room still was not cleaned. We went out again while they cleaned it, and it seemed ok, until we noticed that they had forgotten to give us towels. I called the reception, who said that they would send us towels immediately. Those towels never turned up!||Next morning it was time for a rather good breakfast. However, the only source for hot water was the kind of apparatus, where you have a blue tap for cold water and a red for hot. It was definitely not capable to supply hot water for all the tea consumed at a breakfast in a big hotel! The water was not even lukewarm! When I told the waiter about the problem, he had to test the water in my cup with his finger, to believe me! Unbelievable!||It is a pity, really, because the hotel in itself is quite nice, but that doesn’t help, when the staff and organisation...

Es un Hotel de U$S45 y con tal precio, el servicio es de U$S30. No es un Hotel para "negocios". En mi opinión es un hotel para "escapadas" a bajo costo.

• RECOMENDABLE sólo para una escapada con amigos donde no te importa nada y pasás más tiempo en diversión "fuera" del hotel que dentro. *

+++ SORPRESA +++ Uno de los poquísimos hoteles que visité en Montevideo que tienen un Evangelio en cada mesita de luz.

Insisto en el detalle... es un hotel de U$D45 que da un servicio de U$S35. Hay otras opciones de U$D35 o U$D40 que se ajustan a la realidad del precio.

No me agradó que cobraran de manera adelantada. Vaya! Te dejo tarjeta de crédito con límite bastante alto y cobrás antes? Qué? Me voy a fugar? Mmmhh... No me gustó!

GIMNASIO. Ni lo usé. No tengo opinión.

BAÑO. La ducha estaba sin limpiar. Ni idea de los sanitarios. Aparentaban estar bien. No había vasos para enjuagarse la boca. La tuve que ir a buscar a recepción. La ducha está buena. Abundante agua caliente y buena presión. Baño completo. Cómodo.

TOALLAS. Excelentes. Pero las tuve que buscar a recepción porque no había y a las 21:00hrs no tenían personal.

VAJILLA en habitación. No hay. Ni para calentarse un café. Ni vasos había que también tuve que ir a buscar en recepción.

FRIGOBAR. No funciona. En ninguna habitación. En "gerencia" dicen que son "cavas"!!! ¿Como si un pasajero fuera a añejar o mantener un vino en un hotel? Oh, my Dog!!! Quiero bebida fría ya!!! Cavas!?! Me resultó un insulto a mi inteligencia. Heladera que no anda y listo. No enfría nada.

CAMAS. Confortables 100%, así como sábanas y mantas.

ILUMINACIÓN. Muy baja iluminación de día y de noche especialmente. Todas bombitas de muy baja potencia. No da para leer un libro. Incluso algunos corredores con luces quemadas. En suma, iluminación "mala".

TELEVISION. Por cable, canales básicos. TV plasma de baja resolución.

INTERNET. Servicio gratis. A horas pico, baja el ancho de banda considerablemente. Aceptable como cualquier hotel.

SERVICIO A LA HABITACIÓN. Malo. No tienen personal.

DESAYUNO. Muy básico y café horrible. La vajilla es un rejunte de tazas y cucharitas de distintos modelos, tamaños.

RESTAURANT. Ni fui. Hay muchas opciones de buenos restaurants cerca, así como confiterías que son sin duda mejores que las que ofrece el Hotel. No me hace la diferencia. No suelo usar los resto de los hoteles. Pero "este" en particular, definitivamente no me tentó ni a pedir una gaseosa.

ATENCIÓN DEL PERSONAL. De noche dos gerentes que estudian en la facultad porque observé que estaban en Wikipedia levantando datos de Heráclito (filósofo griego). O sea... cero servicio. De día, tienen poco personal y todos hacen de todo. Por lo que resulta que el servicio en calidad es bajo. Son amables, pero no pueden con todo.

HABITACION EN GENERAL. Sencillas. Se la veía limpia y ordenada. Aunque cuando revisé cajones, había papelitos y otras cosas de pasajeros anteriores. O sea, limpian por donde se ve. No hay limpieza profunda. Habitaciones grandes y chicas se diferencian que una tiene una mesa redonda por ser más espaciosa y la otra no.

CALEFACCION buena. Demora en encender porque se resetea cada vez que se deja la habitación y la llave magnética corta "toda" la energía a la habitación. No dejes el celular cargando en un enchufe porque también corta energía en los enchufes.

ROPEROS. Aceptables como en cualquier hotel.

UBICACION del Hotel. Está cerca del centro (ciudad vieja) y en términos generales, a medio camino de lo más lindo...
