Sur Hotel — Hotel in Montevideo

We first started staying at this great hotel in 2001 and we make sure to stay at the Sur Hotel every time we visit Uruguay. We have stayed as both a family and as a couple while visiting. The hotel is very clean and safe and has everything you need. It is close to all of the local attractions. We love the attention to all of the little details and architecture. Every time we have visited the hotel we have noticed new updates or changes that have been made to improve your experience at the hotel. The service and the staff is excellent and they treat you like family. ||The staff and owners has always been very helpful with any special requests that we have had in the past. These requests have ranged from transportation to the airport or other locations such as Piriapolis. They also have assisted with transportation and accommodations to and from Argentina for our family. When we have needed a recommendation for a restaurant the choices have always been excellent. ||Once again a real great place to stay while visiting Uruguay and especially Montevideo. We always look forward to our stay at the Sur Hotel...

If you like small but quaint places, this is for you. This is not a chain! It has its character. The place is decorated with black and white photos, most of the history of Montevideo. We rented 3 rooms because we were three families (9 total). The owner and concierge were very friendly. The place is immaculately kept with every room having its own theme and color while all blending together to keep to the overall decorative theme. Nearby (a few blocks) you can walk to several restaurants or cafes. It is also only a few blocks to the beach.||||Breakfast costs $6 US and is not usually included but worth it. Montevideo is more expensive than we anticipated and this breakfast was much more affordable than getting one out (unless you want a treat with cakes and such). ||||The place is well taken care of. Bathrooms are smaller but that is the usual in hotels in South America. There is plenty of hot water and pressure (if you have traveled, you know why I write this). Overall, we were very pleased!!! We would highly recommend this hotel, and will return...

We recently stayed at the Sur Hotel in Montevideo as part of our trip to Uruguay. We have stayed at the Sur Hotel multiple times over the years, and as always, our stay at this charming and comfortable hotel was fabulous! Not only is it perfectly situated very close to downtown, the Old City, and El Mercado del Puerto, but the service from the staff is always exceptional! The owners helped us book a car from the airport, and also a car to Piriapolis. They always give us great advise about where the best restaurants are and they are just lovely people. We are always so grateful to have stayed in such a warm, comfortable, and friendly environment. It is the only place we will stay when we are in Montevideo!!||Thank you Rafael...
