This borderline feels like a scam. My friend and I booked this place for 9 days, expecting it to be a 4-star experience, but it was nothing like the photos portray it to be.
Here’s why:
Pros: Good location. Near the beach and the main busy streets in Da Nang. The aircon in the room was cold enough to save us from the unbearable heat outside—it was a haven. The room size is big—very...

This is hands down the most DISGUSTING hotel I have ever stepped foot in. I wouldn’t even let a wild animal sleep here. The room REEKED of sweat, urine, and MOLD – especially in the bathroom where the stench was so strong it made me gag. The water from the tap literally smelled like dead fish. I kid you not.
The toilet had visible urine stains, and there were bloodstains, yellow spots, and black mold on the towels, sheets, and bedding. How is this place even allowed to operate? I wouldn’t touch anything without wrapping it in three layers of plastic.
Under the bed? A horror show. Belts, trash, and what looked like a decade’s worth of dust. Ants crawling up the walls. The air conditioning barely worked, so we were stuck in a sticky, sweaty, foul-smelling sauna. I felt physically sick being in that room.
The cleaning staff was rude and unhelpful – and to top it off, there are reports (and we saw it ourselves) of them accusing guests of stealing or using items they haven’t touched, just to scam more money. They told us we opened a water bottle (but didn’t drink from it?!), demanding extra payment. It’s not about the 15,000 dong – it’s about the fact that they’re LYING. Why on earth would we open a bottle and not drink it?
Oh, and privacy? What a joke. The reception staff had open passport photos of other guests displayed on their computer screens, visible to anyone walking past. Totally unacceptable.
The hallways were stained and dirty – probably hasn’t been cleaned since 1998. No A/C in the lobby either, just more heat and stench. The only reason we were stuck in this biohazard hotel was because our flight was canceled due to a storm.
Yes, it's cheap – but I’ve stayed in FAR better places for less money. I honestly don’t understand how this hotel hasn't been shut down by the health department. Avoid like the plague – unless you want...
Read moreUnfortunately SoCo Hotel was not a pleasant place to stay. We requested a refund after one night as it just was not worth feeling so sad about it and I did not sleep at all well. It is situated on a busy road with constant traffic noise. Our room was dirty, with mouldy curtains, smelly and stained pillow cases, mouldy and stained pillows, mould and dirt in the fridge seal, a dead cockroach, dirty sealant in the bathroom, a dirty toilet and generally not clean everywhere. The shower is not separate from the rest of the bathroom (which is kind of usual for SE Asia) but this one flooded and didn’t drain down for hours, it also smelt and did not have very good water pressure. It was hot for our showers though. This flooding was a slip hazard and meant when we used the bathroom afterwards we got wet feet and this was unacceptable. The hotel is dated but we have stayed in many older hotels in Vietnam and older should not mean dirty. Hanna at Reception was extremely friendly and professional - she apologised for our experience and provided a refund for the nights we didn’t stay. The air conditioning worked well, the location is good for access to the beach and many restaurants but the main road is very loud. All in all we are very sad to say that this was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend...
