This borderline feels like a scam. My friend and I booked this place for 9 days, expecting it to be a 4-star experience, but it was nothing like the photos portray it to be. Here’s why: 1) We stayed in the month of late July to early August. Average temperature in Da Nang is 33-36 degrees celcius, with high humidity. But there was no aircon or decent ventilation in the lobby, lifts or hallways. It was like an oven. Perhaps it’s im effort to save cost… but it just makes the establishment look cheap. 2) Guests in the lobby had their shoes off and sitting with their legs apart and feet on the cushions. It smells bad. Not 3 or 4 star hotel standard. 3) Our room was infested with plaster bagworms everyday. On lucky days, we have spiders. 4) The walls in the room were peeling off. It’s not marble (as you would think from the looks of the photos, it’s a thin vinyl pasted on a board). 5) The housekeeping staff doesn’t clean the room well at all. Literally 5-7minutes and they are out. We saw them clean and it was not thorough. They just take out the trash and rinse the shower area. And pass you 2 bottles of water and cheap bath towels. 6) Soap provided are cheap and not presented in clean bottles) 7) We stayed for 9 nights and they didn’t change the sheets once. 8) The refridgerator smelled like jackfruit. 9) The slippers provided are old, dirty, broken and uncomfortable. 10) The water heater in the building doesn’t always work. 11) There are exposed holes on the wall in the bathroom with a makeshift tube that goes through and open drain. 12) It’s noisy at night. Especially on Friday and Saturday nights. If you are a light sleeper, this isn’t suitable. 13) The whole building is old and poorly maintained. The floors/carpets and doors are stained. It feels like everything is slowly falling apart. 14) They emailed me to give them a high rating and if there’s any problems/disatisfaction in private. But I can’t lie guys, sorry. Google reviews already has bad publicity on this hotel, but the management still does nothing to improve over the months/years. 15) The housekeeping people don’t come at fixed timing (sometimes 8.45am, other times at 11.00am etc), and when they knock the door, you really feel their anxiety and disdain for their jobs. 16) The city view is not as nice as the advertising tries to sell to you. And the photo of the room facing the beach.. not super accurate either. It’s with a lot of buildings and cables inbetween you and the gorgeous sea. Pros: Good location. Near the beach and the main busy streets in Da Nang. The aircon in the room was cold enough to save us from the unbearable heat outside—it was a haven. The room size is big—very spacious. (King room)

Unfortunately SoCo Hotel was not a pleasant place to stay. We requested a refund after one night as it just was not worth feeling so sad about it and I did not sleep at all well. It is situated on a busy road with constant traffic noise. Our room was dirty, with mouldy curtains, smelly and stained pillow cases, mouldy and stained pillows, mould and dirt in the fridge seal, a dead cockroach, dirty sealant in the bathroom, a dirty toilet and generally not clean everywhere. The shower is not separate from the rest of the bathroom (which is kind of usual for SE Asia) but this one flooded and didn’t drain down for hours, it also smelt and did not have very good water pressure. It was hot for our showers though. This flooding was a slip hazard and meant when we used the bathroom afterwards we got wet feet and this was unacceptable. The hotel is dated but we have stayed in many older hotels in Vietnam and older should not mean dirty. Hanna at Reception was extremely friendly and professional - she apologised for our experience and provided a refund for the nights we didn’t stay. The air conditioning worked well, the location is good for access to the beach and many restaurants but the main road is very loud. All in all we are very sad to say that this was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend staying here.

Mixed experience. Stayed 6 nights. Everything was great till the last day. The reception was fantastic checking in. The housekeeping offers to clean the room every day (we declined). We were on the 12th floor and for the most part, quiet regarding our neighbours till the evening before checkout. (Drunkard smashing the room) & kids nonstop running in the morning (only the last day). However, you will hear honking all day and the stream bun seller till midnight (sometimes 2am). On checkout, the hotel stated we were missing two spoons. Which we know are missing... somewhere. Later adding on glass coasters that were never in the room. I would suggest if the hotel is very admit about the room being set. They should have photo proof everytime the cleaning staff resets the room. As there were irregularities with how our room was set. And NO I am not paying 50/50 of something that was never in the room to begin with. Visitors: photograph/video your room so you don't have the same problems we did. Although minor. It did take an hour + to resolve the issue. I would give this place another go. If I wanted a noisy environment again. It's in a great location after all.

DO NOT STAY HERE – THIS PLACE IS A HEALTH HAZARD.

This is hands down the most DISGUSTING hotel I have ever stepped foot in. I wouldn’t even let a wild animal sleep here. The room REEKED of sweat, urine, and MOLD – especially in the bathroom where the stench was so strong it made me gag. The water from the tap literally smelled like dead fish. I kid you not.

The toilet had visible urine stains, and there were bloodstains, yellow spots, and black mold on the towels, sheets, and bedding. How is this place even allowed to operate? I wouldn’t touch anything without wrapping it in three layers of plastic.

Under the bed? A horror show. Belts, trash, and what looked like a decade’s worth of dust. Ants crawling up the walls. The air conditioning barely worked, so we were stuck in a sticky, sweaty, foul-smelling sauna. I felt physically sick being in that room.

The cleaning staff was rude and unhelpful – and to top it off, there are reports (and we saw it ourselves) of them accusing guests of stealing or using items they haven’t touched, just to scam more money. They told us we opened a water bottle (but didn’t drink from it?!), demanding extra payment. It’s not about the 15,000 dong – it’s about the fact that they’re LYING. Why on earth would we open a bottle and not drink it?

Oh, and privacy? What a joke. The reception staff had open passport photos of other guests displayed on their computer screens, visible to anyone walking past. Totally unacceptable.

The hallways were stained and dirty – probably hasn’t been cleaned since 1998. No A/C in the lobby either, just more heat and stench. The only reason we were stuck in this biohazard hotel was because our flight was canceled due to a storm.

Yes, it's cheap – but I’ve stayed in FAR better places for less money. I honestly don’t understand how this hotel hasn't been shut down by the health department. Avoid like the plague – unless you want...
