Avoid if you plan on booking any tours/bikes/services with anyone other than the hostel - the owners appear nice at first but turned out to be rude and quite psycho. The private room was good for the price but that’s about the only pro of this place.
STORYTIME! Me and a couple of friends took a waterfall tour with a local down the road (which was a great experience). When we got back, the owners asked where we had been then proceeded to be really rude and cold, called me a liar and guilt tripped us for not doing the tour with themselves. We tried to explain politely that we can do what we wish with our money, baring in mind I had already paid them over 1mil dong for the room for four nights but they insisted on sucking us into their neighbourhood drama and didn’t speak to us and gave us the cold shoulder for the remaining nights after we did the tour with someone else - made for a very awkward and uncomfortable experience and really ruined our day. It seems the owners don’t understand good customer service or good business and become very unprofessional and unaccommodating once you book something external from themselves. They couldn’t seem to understand that business is business and customers have a right to do things outside of the hostel.
On the day of our check out, my mate from home was checking in early morning, so we went for a coffee at the guys house who we did the tour with to kill some time - then the wife owner came over and started screaming at the tour guide and ourselves for getting coffee from him - even after we had checked out, they were still giving us hassle. She then asked for my mates name who hadn’t even checked in yet and said to him “I’ll deal with you later”, implying he was guilty of doing something wrong before he had even met the owners or stayed at the hostel - he felt so uncomfortable from her hostility that he had to grab his bag quickly and book somewhere else to stay. After she had seen us having coffee and confronted us for no reason, she called the police on the neighbour - putting tourists, better yet - paying customers, in this position is not a nice thing to do.
We then got barraged with toxic messages on WhatsApp asking why we were ‘stealing their customers’ and why we ‘treat them like this’ - very strange experience.
It was entertaining to see how crazy they were reacting but it made us feel really bad for the local - he didn’t poach us from the hostel we just strolled upon his place for coffee and he offered to take us around the place so we thought, why not?
All in all - Mr Peace and his wife ruined our experience in Da Lat, so unless you plan on booking all your tours, taxis, bikes and services directly with these money grabbers - stay...
Read moreAvoid at All Costs This was the worst accommodation experience we've ever had. It’s hard to summarise our nightmare experience, and I have never left a negative review before. From the moment we arrived, the place was rundown, dirty, and felt generally uncared for. The owners were quite rude—especially if you dared to make a complaint.
The rooms were filthy (hairs and stains on beds). We kindly asked for new sheets. They dealt with it in an unmannerly way, telling us “well you booked a cheap room anyway”.. We were then moved to a room two floors below ground level that was supposedly clean—but it also had hairs on the bed and visible dirt. However we didn’t say anything further because, frankly, we were scared of their confrontational, dismissive attitudes. When the toilet in our room and across the rooms on our floor overflowed with excrement on the second night, we were all forced to wait in the lobby past 11:30pm with no support. We were denied a room change, ignored when we asked for help, and eventually had to book another hotel. Last minute, they offered us a spare room, which was too late. The owners totally crossed the line when speaking to fellow frustrated guests at midnight; people were told “if you don’t want to stay then get out”. We were briefly chatting to a guest outside who asked what was going on & Mr ‘Peace’ followed us, saying “do not spread rumours”.
They cancelled our Hostelworld booking to block us from leaving a review—something we’ve since learned they’ve done to other guests too. (Have a look at Google reviews for previous guests’ experiences!) Do not trust the positive reviews on Hostelworld, as...
Read moreThis hostel has some points to note:
1.They can cancel your reservation without notice, and no refund will be issued to your card.
It feels like a scam. When I arrived at 5 p.m., the receptionist told me they couldn’t find my booking in their system. They said I needed to pay 70,000 VND if I wanted to stay in the dorm. I explained that I had already booked and paid the dorm tax. After some back and forth, they reduced the price to 40,000 VND but without breakfast, even though my original booking was 30,000 VND per night. It felt like they were trying to overcharge guests.also they told me the dorm was full and only had a room available for tonight. However, I noticed that the website still showed available rooms for booking, they lied all the time.
2.This hostel discriminates against Asians.
They seem to dislike Asians, even though they themselves are Asian. As mentioned, they claimed not to find my booking and made me wait at the reception without resolving the issue. Meanwhile, I noticed they were friendly and greeted white guests politely. I ended up waiting for 30 minutes until there were no other guests at the counter before they finally allowed me to check in. To make things worse, they gave me the worst room available.
3.The accommodation is poor.
There’s no charging port near the bed, and the sockets in the room don’t work. Basically, you can’t charge your electronic devices in your room. Additionally, my dorm had a machine on the floor that occasionally made loud noises. I can’t believe they still rent...
