things we liked:
room: we got a twin room facing the river. superb view, quiet. the room itself was a good size - comfortable enough for two travellers with one checkin size suitcase and one 50L backpack / duffel to spread around. the TV had international channels, theres a safe in the room that works along with hangers, they give you slippers and bathrobes - also there are umbrellas in the room in case it rains (which i appreciate so much). there are three floors of rooms, the hotel is in a u shape with the pool / dining room in the centre and the stree it is on is extremely quiet (noise only comes from inside the hotel eg doors slamming, chairs scraping, guests in the hall).
location: great - near the hoi an night market, perf for walking down the road and across to the old quarter across the bridge. be warned there is another hotel called vinh hung riverside that grab will mistake for ur pickup - so just check before confirming the grab.
staff: SO NICE AND LOVELY!! they rly go out of ur way to make ur stay pleasant (i was so pleasantly surprised at breakfast with a bday cupcake (i hadnt mentioned it to anyone) and it made me cry T_T thank u so much) and i cannot say enough nice things about them

We stayed at Emerald Hoi An Riverside Resort and while there were some positives, overall we were left disappointed.
Pros:
The location is great — just a short walk to the Old Town and local markets.
The pool area is quite nice and a good place to relax.
The hotel is generally clean and tidy.
However, there were a number of issues that really impacted our stay:
The rooms are extremely outdated and in serious need of renovation. For the price point, the “pool view” room setup was very basic and underwhelming.
The bathrooms weren't up to standard. The shower glass was so watermarked it clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly in a long time.
The hotel doesn’t have enough pool cushions for the number of loungers, which seems like a simple thing to address. We asked around 4pm and were told there weren’t any left because there were “a lot of people” at the pool, which was a frustrating response.
There was no service by the pool — no towels, no one to assist, and no drinks unless you walked into the restaurant yourself (happy hour is from 12–6pm if you do).
Ongoing construction next door is a major disturbance and takes away from the atmosphere.
Our room wasn’t cleaned or made up until after 3pm each day, which is quite late.
The air conditioning in the room is positioned directly above the bed, blowing cold air right at you while you sleep — not ideal.
We also had an issue with the spa: I arrived for a massage at the booked time and no one was there, so I left. Later, I was yelled at by a staff member for “not giving notice” of cancellation, which was bizarre and totally inappropriate.
Breakfast was just okay — nothing memorable or special.
All in all, it was a pretty average experience. This hotel has potential, but there's a lot of work to be done — particularly in upgrading the rooms and improving service. We wouldn’t recommend it unless some serious...
Read moreFirst time in Hoi-an and I picked the right hotel! Hotel is only 3mins walk away from the night market and 5mins walk from the old town. It provides free bicycle rental which was fantastic, do take note of the heavy chaotic traffic near the old town. Helmet is not necessary and not provided. The Premium double room I booked which was located on the top floor (3rd floor by stairs only) was spacious and has extended outdoor balcony. And it offers more privacy than the 2nd floor Deluxe rooms as most rooms are facing the swimming pool and it can get quite noisy with children. The room was clean and housekeeping was good. The hotel ground is well kept and surrounded with greenery next the tranquil river. The only issue I had was the lizards at night, they were all over the walkway outside the room and one evening I heard lizard noises in my room and it appeared just right above the curtain. It freaked me out as I hate and am afraid of it. The staff were super nice trying to catch and scare it away. They had really saved my life!! Breakfast was ok with egg and noodles station. The Vietnamese iced coffee at breakfast was a nice touch. There is daily happy hour at the pool and definitely not to be missed. The front desk staff are so helpful trying to contact our previous hotel of a lost item and informative for restaurants in Hoi-an which turned out to be great (The Morning glory). Just outside the hotel, Spa Susu offered one of the best massage I had in Vietnam by male masseur and can be requested. Laundry services is also available. Definitely recommended this hotel and if you are afraid of lizards like me, get the deluxe room as I didn’t see them hanging around the balcony area as much as the Premium top floor. Enjoy...
