i had a fantastic experience with anna and her team. their fabrics are top notch and at such a steal of a price, anna is the kindest, and they did a wonderful job of bringing my ideas to life. i’m really indecisive, so it was a blessing to have anna’s guidance - especially love how she wasn’t pushy or trying to upsell me. she had a lovely, down-to-earth personality as well and i wish her store was the first one i went to!

i got 2 dresses and a 2-piece set. anna helped me decide fabrics and what suited my skin tone. i’m really impressed with the purple silk corset-style dress: she even included the typical boning a corset has, but somehow, the dress is still so comfy! i’ve worn a few corset styles before and have always felt like it was stuffy, but wow, anna and her team did a great job at striking a balance between style and comfort. the summer dress i got was also gorgeous: anna actually designs her own fabrics for some styles, so there’s only enough fabric to make one more dress after mine 🤭. if that doesn’t tell you how good she is at her craft, then i don’t know what will! lastly, the 2-piece she made me was actually what sold me on getting the dresses since she did such a good job and the fabric was so breathable and comfortable - perfect for the humidity summer brings. i would typically never go for that green color, but anna’s team convinced me, and i’m so glad. i can’t wait to wear all of these new pieces 🫶🏼 included close-ups of the two dresses to show how nice the detailings are!

the amount of thought anna puts into her store, fabric, and customer experience truly makes shopping here a fun time. will definitely revisit her shop when i’m back...

I did a LOT of online research on tailor recommendations before narrowing my choices to a half dozen shops in Hoi An. One of my selections, Anava Tailor, topped all others.

Located a short walk from Hoi An's Old Town, Anava Tailor has lower overhead costs than most tailor shops, many burdened with costly rents due to their prime street locations. Larger stores offer commissions to hotels for referrals or like Bebe Tailoring, contract hotel shuttles to use their shop as a drop off stop. All these expenses are built into their prices.

Anava Tailor passes these savings to customers with reasonably priced work.

I talked at length with Anna, owner of Anava Tailor, and was impressed by her background. She was born, raised and educated in Canada so her English is superior to most shop staff. In England, Anna studied and earned a degree in fashion design. After returning to Vietnam, she worked ten years with a major Hoi Tailor shop, becoming a manager and doing design. She also was a fashion model for the store widening her aesthetic 'feel' for fabrics, color, fit and design.

She didn't rush me or push me to buy more. Despite my modest purchase of 2 cotton pants and a nice silk/cotton shirt, we did 3 separate fittings after the initial measurements to insure proper fit.

I was quoted $40 by Bebe Tailors to make a long sleeve silk/cotton shirt. Anava Tailor did the job with 3 fittings for a substantially lower price.
