Just had a 1 night stay. Extended late checkout to 17:00 is 600k VND.
Normally I don’t choose these type of hotels when in Asia. But this time I was traveling alone and wanted to try the many boutique hotels. I love these type of hotels. Great locations with a big bang for the buck. Sure they are not perfect and small, but So far I had great stays in Au Lac Legend and Sky gem hotel.
Location is superb. A few minutes walk to Saigon center/square, the Pasteur Bar scene. Everything g is right on the door step. Even the entrance is astonishing. Right in the middle Of a vibrant market.
The hotel is like a 3/4 star western city hotel. Modern Lobby with a very quick check in. With a pool that has breath taking view of the skyline. The rooms are modern with all mods and cons. Great bed. Big shower with toilet and bidet. minibar and a safe. The hotel is 1 year old and it shows. The personnel are very nice and helpful. On paper and on arrival it seems that I have hit an home run.
But with all this pros….why only 2 stars. Let me explain.
I chose a windowless room. Less chance of noise pollution and without a window would be cooler.
Boy that was a HUGE mistake. The room I got had a defective AC. AC is no1 most essential requirement for me. When I return to my room after a hot day in the city I want to be embraced in the cool surroundings of my room. That was not the case here.
The people came twice to fix it. After 2 hours it was still not fixed and they wanted another 45 minutes. That was really not acceptable for me. Especially as it was spoiling my last night in Saigon and it was already quite late. So they offered to get me a new room if they couldn’t fix it. I accepted and head out to dinner. I was already pissed because most stores closes at 22:00. Saigon centre closed at 21:30. So there goes my last minute shopping plans. Around 24:00 I was back in the hotel and they had moved all my gear to the new room. Unfortunately the new room Was better but was not able to cool the room. It turns out the windowless rooms all had centrally arranged AC and even though the new room just had AC revised it didn’t work adequately.(seems to be an ongoing issue) I waited 30 minutes to check if the room would get any cooler, but it didn’t. By now it was 1:30 am and finally had to resort to a new room. A 3rd room. This time I got a bigger room With a window and more importantly a working AC. A room with a window seems to have its own controllable AC. What a difference. I quickly settled in. With everything that has happened I was not able to shower. So I took a shower and than it turns out the water wouldn’t get hot. You know that you have had enough if you don’t even bother to complain anymore. To be fair the next day hot water worked again. (Please wait 5 minutes) By the time I got to sleep it was almost 3 am. What a nightmare of a last night in Saigon.
Luckily they compensated me with the upgraded room and an ultra late checkout. I was able to stay till 19:30 because my plane had a delay.
It would have been 1 star, but thanks to the compensation and helpful staff 2 stars. There is so much potential in the hotel. But until they can fix the windowless rooms…be aware of the ongoing AC problems.
There is 1 negative to this hotel. The breakfast. The hotel expected their guests to eat outside and I till 3 days they didn’t serve breakfast. Now they did. But what they serve is a very very basic continental breakfast. Even by European standards. It was quite funny to see the faces of the guests when they realized what was available for their breakfast. IMO hotel should warn that they serve basic breakfast.
Especially when you consider how great the breakfast spreads are of most 4 star hotels. In Vietnam I got a minimum of fresh juices, fresh fruit, noodle soup station, egg station longside a buffet of Asian and...

We booked the M Village Thon That Dam early July for a two night stay starting on 27 November 2024. Our stay in Saigon, activities, dinners, tours and transfers had all been organised around the location of this hotel.
Two days before check-in, we received a message from the hotel informing us of a water leak in our room which meant we were unable to stay at the hotel. Instead a separate hotel in the chain was offered, M Village Tao Dan Park. However, this hotel does not have comparable facilities (i.e. no pool, no bar, no restaurant, no breakfast) and the location did not work for our planned holiday. We identified a hotel in their hotel chain which met our requirements and had an available twin room.
Even though the issue was on their end and it was last minute, they requested additional cash from us to move to the hotel we identified (almost double). When we noted that an additional fee onto of the last minute inconvenience of relocating us was not acceptable, they request we wait until the next day (i.e. one day before check-in) while they confirmed internally whether they were happy to resolve the issue to our satisfaction.
The following day they provided a separate option, a different hotel in an even worse location which also had no pool, no restaurant, no bar and no breakfast. Further, this hotel only had a double room (we required and booked a twin). At this stage we requested a refund.
After we requested the refund, they informed us that the water leak never existed and we could have our original room. Due to the deceit (lies) and the stress they had put us through while on our holiday, we did not feel comfortable staying at their hotel. Therefore, we had to pay over the odds for a last minute booking at reputable hotel and had to rearrange our various taxis, tours and transfers.
Avoid any M Village hotel at all costs, they are untrustworthy and lie to their guests - the above could easily happen to other customers and ruin...
