This guesthouse is cheap and a great price for backpackers. Location was its best factor, being down a small alley on Bui Vien, which is 15 meters from all of the resturants and bars but because of the alley way you still hear no noise at night, perfect! ||The room was small and so was the bathroom. There was a fridge, air con and TV. However every day we would find small ants and bugs on the floor and in the bathroom and the fridge contained mould on some parts. ||There was a very basic breakfast consisting of a baguette, with a jar of jam, butter and peanut butter and a coffee. But it was free so you can't complain. ||||The main disappointment to this guesthouse is the staff. From the moment we walked in there wasn't much of a welcoming. Just a brief hello and a key handed to us, they didn't even ask to see our passports. ||This continued throughout our stay. When we would enter the guesthouse not one of the members of staff would even turn their heads to say hello, and instead we're always playing computer games or on their phones. Asking for help or advice about the city or travel was out of the question. ||The staff members im referring to were quite Young. And there was an older gentleman who would be there at breakfast who would say hello. But he was only there early mornings and there was no sign of him after that. ||||If you're looking for a cheap guesthouse with great location and don't mind the awkward exit/entry to the guesthouse then this will be okay as it is great...
Read moreI originally had a booking at different hotel but the hotel had an unexpected problem in a room where I was supposed to stay over at first night, so I was sent over to Quan San for first night only.||||I personally didn't like this place at all. It is a very basic and OK place with wifi connection, A/C, and a mini fridge. Nothing fancy, no atmosphere. Not friendly staff (probably not strong English skill) Clean enough but building is quite old. I don't think breakfast is included but you should confirm. I didn't enjoy the bathroom as it is a bit too old for me. Something was broken. You can use a big towel for free but bath rag is not provided. oh well, there is a bath-rag-like in front of the bathroom but it is very dirty. Not sure if it is a rather door mat or what.||||The location is great, it is located in the center of backpacker area but off street. So it is quiet.||||I don't think this place will cost US$20 per night (pls ask property directly). If you are on tight budget, this place would be a good option for you. Said that, there are so many other choices for you to choose from if you are willing to pay US$25 per night. Usually US$25-accommodation in Ho Chi Minh is quite good value, which is far better than Quan San. ||||I won't stay...
Read moreMy partner and I stayed in a twin room. We booked one night but planned to extend, however the room was that small we had no choice but to live out of our back packs. I'm sure most travellers would agree that having to unpack and repack your backpack every time you need something is very frustrating. The beds were very small, fairly hard and the blanket was tiny. I woke up quite a lot in the night very cold. With that being said though the room was very quiet, away from the main street and it was fairly clean, besides the odd ant. We had a window room, however there was a brick wall directly opposite the window so pretty pointless. The owners are very nice people. I think it is family owned and one younger female speaks good English. On check out they did try to charge us more for our room than stated on our booking, so make sure to convert the price into VND yourself first to ensure you are paying the correct amount. Would we stay here again? No. You can get much bigger rooms for the same price if...
