I stayed at pink lotus for seven nights. That's a long time. The location is excellent, right in the middle of town, near bars, restaurants and coffee joints. And 2 or 3 laundromats (very useful). The room is clean and thoughtful and has everything you need, the aircon and water heater works well (important when the weathe is cold). The host was very kind and thoughtful and ferried me to and from the train station. I also hitched rides from her when it was on the way. The best part about staying here which I cannot get from other hotels, is the insight into local life. Apart from bringing us tourists to remote places like abandoned water park (at no charge), she also brought us to eat local food like Che hue, the local sweet dessert and a very popular local pancake joint (no foreigners!). We also had steamboat with other locals at a vegetarian restaurant on 15th, like every good vietnamese. In addition, I went back to her hometown with her and experienced local life. We ate steamboat, with her mum and dad, her, visited the local nunnery and market, visited the local scenic post. I like the insight into Vietnamese life so much. From my experience, I learnt that Vietnamese are very close knit and filial. In the village everyone knows each other and are besties. My friends are envious about my experience. Because you can't get this kind of insight from normal tours. I am most grateful to Ms Lien for giving me such a wonderful and insightful and authentic experience. Thank...
Read moreRather disappointed with this hotel. I’m really not used to writing this but well... We had a really top staff the lady even told us where to go to eat, what there was to visit etc. Staff really very nice that allowed us to rent bikes etc. Breakfast also pleased us there is a choice between hot drinks, orange juice, noodles, omelettes, pancakes... The location is not bad either, close to some streets where there are many restaurants and 30 minutes away from the citadelle. The hotel is not noisy apart from the loud music set at 8am by a staff member in the breakfast room. However hygiene is really not satisfactory. At first glance it looks very good but then we notice some stains on the sheets and the torn duvet cover but it is not really important. The worst was the huge cockroach 😱 coming out of the bathroom going in our bedroom. We spent over an hour chasing it at 1 a.m. We finally asked them to change rooms, which was fortunately possible. The next day, when having breakfast a rat passed at the reception... Finally, the electric wires of the hot water tank were completely out and "arranged" with tape which is not very reassuring and the hair dryer was broken 😞 At check out we were charged 2 extra breakfasts. I asked for a commercial gesture regarding the inconvenience related to the cockroach and we had a 4 euros discount. So there are pros and cons...
Read moreAmazing choice for staying in central Hue. Very centrally located but down a quiet alley. Rooms are clean and good value for money. The best part is Lien (the manager and her team. Lien really went above and beyond in helping us and her English is excellent. She gave us a quick and efficient summary on our first night of what to see, where to eat and exactly how much everything should cost. No pressure to buy any extras, she just wanted us to have information we needed and that we wouldn't be overcharged. She jokingly called herself the "human google" and it's true because there is nothing she doesn't know about the Hue area! She even rescued us when we were stuck in a huge traffic jam due to road closures.
We arranged transport and luggage transport through the hotel and everything worked out perfect.
Highly...
