The good:|* great location. Walk to the main strip in 5 minutes for tons of great restaurants.|* bungalows and atmosphere was fantastic.|* friendly staff|* great grounds keeping. Everything was kept swept and clean feeling|* fair prices for cocktails and beers given were in a resort. Food was overpriced though, so we chose to eat outside the resort||The bad:|* no gym? Seems a bit weird, but not a huge deal I guess.|* room smelled of sewer. Constantly. It was stuck in the air. In the room.|* the staff wasn’t knowledgeable of what was going on. We asked if we should wear bug spray in this season. We typed it into translation apps. We still couldn’t get an answer. We ended up asking the neighboring hotel.|* terrible buffet food. I mean awful. I’ve had better food in airport lounges. Ive stayed in one star and two star hotels with better food. That’s not an exaggeration. I think it was the worst buffet food I’ve had for a breakfast.|* COMPULSORY New Year’s party at a HUGE price tag. $75 per person. In Vietnam! This was the single most disappointing new year’s experience I’ve had. Here’s a bunch of observations from the night. First, the food. More buffet food if the same quality as breakfast mentioned above. Dry and flavorless, salads, meats, seafood, desserts. Almost all of it was terrible. Next, the “party.” The MC was… awkward. I can’t even describe it. No rhythm to the event. No connection with the crowd. Weird flow to the party. The live band felt like karaoke. I’d say 50% of the people left before 20:00. They did the bamboo dance for, no joke, TWENTY MINUTES. By the time the DJ started around 10:30, nobody was left. Everyone was looking at their phones or playing cards or left. Until midnight it was just the DJ and a few kids dancing. My wife wanted to dance but there was no atmosphere left. When midnight hit, fireworks started. They set off about 10 little fireworks total. No warning that they were going off RIGHT NEXT to my table. I ended up with embers down my shirt and got burned on my back and arm bad enough to leave lasting burns. The whole display lasted maybe 1 minute. Meanwhile next door on the beach they had a good 10 minute display. In the end it was the most disappointing new year’s I’ve had, that came with a $300 price tag (4 of us). But at least drinks were included, right? Wrong. And bottles of wine was priced at US levels.||Pictures on post are from 11:40, just before midnight on New Year’s Eve! At a party where everyone HAD to pay the fee, and yet they still would rather leave! Sad.||If this were cheaper, it could be worth it. But they charge high prices. I expect high quality for those prices.||There are lots of great resorts here. I suggest you choose elsewhere. Especially...

Read moreWe selected this hotel as it had a similar look/feel online as a place we treasure on another island. The view from the pool wa magnificent and it was a lovely place to hang out. This was more like that place was before it was tidied up and was a bit shabby and ripe for some TLC. Nothing dreadfully wrong but does need a significant refresh. There are areas of the decking and paving around the pool that move (when I am sure they are not meant to!) and tiles from the pool lining missing.|The room was a good size, I do think some things get lost in translation and took 3 requests and 2 days to get the requested extra pillow (generally need replacing as some have some quite nasty stains) and 2 days for housekeeping to take the cup of coffee and beer glass from our balcony. The attention to detail not quite there, When they finally did clean they took our rubber door stopper we were using for security and also to stop the door rattling in the wind LOL :-)))|Bathroom looks like there was a leak in the ceiling - grout is nasty and needs redoing - ditto silicon. Shower very old and needs replacing - once in, between the tapware and the door handle there is not much space to move without banging into either. The huge bath that takes up 1/2 the bathroom is unnecessary - especially when the water take 2-3 minutes to warm and then only runs hot for 30-45 seconds before reverting to luke warm at best. While that was ok for the shower given the hot weather, not the temperature of water to soak in!|The outside Shower was unkept and not at all inviting didn't use and had to ask someone to come and fix the lock so we could secure the room|Restaurant - toaster didn't work. Noodles were delicious. Breakfast was OK|Unfortunately we were somewhat disturbed by the hotel next door that played doof doof each PM / evening with speakers that face directly to Anja Beach - we could hear in our room. Went out to have a look - on one day there was no one there and on the other there were 2 "influencers" taking photos of themselves and the staff behind the bar.|Want to be positive enough to encourage your stay - they were lovely and I am sure doing their best, just needs people to stay so they can do it up to make...
