Mystic Escape — Local services in Brisbane City

Cool Escape room and very friendly staff! We tried city of ashes, great theming and atmosphere! Puzzles were good (and quite hard at times 👍)

There are not really any traditional locks in the room which is quite refreshing and nice. However there might be some work to be had with some of the features, most locks didn't open quite so easily and you had to use a bit of force to get them open. Not a great fit to the "don't use force" mentality of Escape rooms.

Another technicality was the use of recorded sounds and dialogue. This could be a great addition to the experience, but only one speaker with moderate quality sound made it hard to hear and confused us a bit when we got stuff done and thought something reacted elsewhere...

So what could have been a really great experience was halted a bit by technicalities, I believe that they can sort it out however. And the concepts and features they had were really cool!

We had also initially booked the "storm" experience as we thought this was an Escape room, but we were allowed to change this once we found out that this was not entirely what we had wanted....

Yokai Izakaya at Mystic Escape is an absolute must-try for escape room enthusiasts and newcomers alike! The blend of a Japanese restaurant setting with paranormal investigation made for an incredibly immersive experience, with every detail thoughtfully designed to pull us into the story. They were informative, helpful when needed, and fully committed to maintaining the atmosphere. My partner and I had the pleasure of completing The Fairytales escape room today. The game master looked after us from the get-go. Give this man a pay raise! He absolutely MADE the experience for us. He was very helpful and not to mention hilarious as well. The room itself was very well thought out. The storyline was consistent with the theme of the room and we were very impressed by the use of mechanics to enhance the experience. It was awesome how we could ask for unlimited hints as we struggled with certain clues. Our game master was very patient when assisting us. We also loved how the game master explained the room to us at the end, giving us extra details about how everything works and more insight into the storyline’s connection to the room.
