Doltone House Hyde Park — Local services in Sydney

I recently attended a wedding at this venue. The foyer and reception room were very impressive due to the large chandeliers and ornately covered chairs. But this is where the good impressions ended. I found that the service to be awful. There was one drinks waitress for half the room and she was never around to ask for a drink. Nobody ever came to check if the guests needed anything. In addition when I tried to approach a waiter for some assistance they all walked past me as if they could not see me. I managed to stop 2 waiters and 1 just wanted to walk away but his colleague kept him there waiting to hear my request. The staff were also useless when it came to clearing the table. I emptied our table and dumped it on the bar, because again I could not get anyone to assist me.

The band and MC speakers were so loud that conversation was impossible not only at the table but also on the couches situated away from the bridal table.

The food was tasty and well presented considering the number of guests to be served. The flavours between the two main dishes were quite similar: beef with potato gratin and grilled mushroom and chicken wrapped in prosciutto with spinach.... The beef was lovely and the vegetables were complimentary. The chicken however was not that great. in fact the jus on it tasted identical to the jus from the beef.

At 10.00 pm I asked for a cup of tea. I was told it would be out in 10 mins with the wedding cake which had been cut half an hour earlier. 30 mins later I saw the wedding cake going to the kitchen to be cut up. When it finally came out there were petit fours but no tea or coffee. I only saw one waiter carrying a tray of piccolo coffees...very few guests took one. Also the petit fours were...

My fiance and I attended high tea today (with our friends at Hyde Park) which we had been looking forward too.

Both my fiance and I have diatery requirements (me lactose intolerant and no seafood).

We had organised and informed prior to attending, and when we got there there were place cards set with our requirements I thought "ok this looks promising".........

My, my how wrong we were.........

I myself was only offered some extremely minute sausage rolls of some sort and minute spring rolls

My fiance was only given some salmon on leaves and a plate of cut fruit......

For $60 per person this is absolutely abhorrent........

There is zero effort on your behalf..

I have been to other high teas where we haven't given prior warning and they have taken into account our requirements and worked around this....

This is absolutely disappointing and we would request a refund for our tickets. We have even had to go out for lunch to actually get any sustenance..

After this effort from Daltons house I wouldn't be recommending your company for any function

AMAZING. This venue was without a doubt the best possible place in Sydney. From the very first meeting, we knew that this was the place for our special wedding. Our sales manager was beyond accommodating and made sure that we were 110% happy before taking a deposit. The service from there on in was perfect. Every question was answered and there were so many meetings to make sure we could show every supplier exactly what we needed. The night was AMAZING Katarina was our event planner and she was perfect. All events ran as per our request and the service was the talking point of the night. Each table had someone looking after drinks and food as well as any other guest requests. The Alcohol package was phenomenal, with the house sparkling being a massive hit. We loved the experience here and honestly can't wait to book this venue for any other events. If you are looking for a great venue with the most perfect atmosphere and intimate colour scheme then this is a no brainer. Thanks so much to all the staff here at Doltone...
