Sunlite Mitre 10 - York St — Local services in Sydney

Absolutely EXCELLENT hardware store in the middle of the CBD (enormous range of products you’d usually expect to have to go to “suburbia” to source). All staff were FANTASTIC. I got helped by 4 (FOUR!) of them (1 traveling man from Europe, 1 anglo oz man, 1 anglo oz woman & 1 indian or Sri Lankan heritage oz man). I have NEVER felt so helped & “we can fix your issues” by sooooo many people before - it was EXCELLENT!

What was my “drama”? I was directed by another member of the Mgmt Team at my workplace to “trawl through recycling garbage bins & remove unrecyclables & put them in the garbage dumpster”. Yep: this actually occurred. In 2025! Of course my self-esteem & self-respect demanded I get “no glass cut nor needlestick injury risk GLOVES”. I immediately came to this fantastic hardware store. I got 2 sets (1 small, 1 medium) so I could wear both at once, to be EXTRA safe.

Filipe has excellent customer skills, is amazingly helpful and proactive.

On the above day I called Mitre 10 to enquire about availability of some concentrated weed killer. Filipe answered my call and offered to check it on the shelf. He confirmed availability. However when I arrived to the shop the weed killer was not the brand I saw on the Mitre 10 web site. Filipe immediately offered to check in other shops and found one in Bondi Junction. He called the shop and asked to leave me one for collection.

I also needed two other items and Filipe walked me to the shelves where they were.

When leaving the shop I noticed how friendly and pleasant Filipe was towards customers.

This has been my main hardware for the last few years and I've always loved going here. The prices are so reasonable and everyone who works there is so helpful and knowledgeable. It looks like a small shop but there's so much in there.

Recently we've been planning quite a large renovation and we have basically bought everything we need, including paint. Warwick has been so incredibly helpful, we've been in so many times and he's remembered everything we're doing and has given us such great advice.

This place has made our lives so much easier and what could be a stressful time, actually enjoyable....
