Wynyard Park — Local services in Sydney

A small but significant green space little park that is bound by York, Carrington, Market and Barrack Street. Lovely park that provides shaded areas during the hot weather and really sunkissed during the cooler months when the deciduous trees dropped their leaves. Great place during lunch break for office workers in the area and a welcoming place to relax whilst waiting for the bus (especially bus services to the northern suburbs originate from here) or about to enter Wynyard station. Suitable for all ages especially young children. Wheelchair friendly and baby bram friendly. This used to be the parade ground of the first military barracks and named after General Wynyard the Commander of British Forces in Australia from 1848 to 1853, according to archive information...

Sydney is a city with less open green space than Manhattan NYC. I know that because I’m a “closet Town Planner” who’s lived in Sydney for 3 decades. I’ve also worked near this park for nearly 2 decades. It’s divine. And far too rare. Need sun during any season? Come here. Want to stare from a park bench at the “far too few left” art deco buildings in Syd CBD? Come here. Need to run from “corporate junk” for even 10 mins? Same. Haven't been in city for 12 years, it's lost it's vibes, with construction still not completed, nightmare travelling from one location to another, cafes encroaching to various footpaths including for prices, best and least time to get to your location is by shanks pony.The state Govt & CITY council have really stuffed up the place NOT A GOOD LOOK FOR OUR STATE capital .EACH will blame the other by passing the buck,no wonder the place is going broke with business.
