Maison Mason — Local services in Antwerp

We celebrated our wedding and the birthday of our son with arround 100 people. I cannot recommend Maison Mason. They have neither event experience nor are they hospitable. In the end it's all about the money. Here are some points that are preflalen (not final) so you can get a picture:

• On the website, it is claimed that the place can hold 250 people whereas in reality it is much less. This is incorrect advertisement. • The crew were not ready at the time of the party start  lack of professionalism • Claimed to have measured the place to fit tables when in reality this was done by Sailart • Change initial agreed upon plans without notifying the host (e.g. last minute change off table placement) causing delay in guest seating and wrong guest seating even there was a plan. • A photo booth was ordered but instead a simple photo device was delivered, with a couch far away from the device and no instruction on how to use the device nor a remote control to support the use of it. The initial agreed up on location for the device was changed with notifying the host. The device run out of printing paper and no reserve paper was ensured.  The prices for this item is questionable. • Not well organized when the service people were to take brake. Guest have to wait a long while after dinner before the dessertcould be setup because service personnel were practically all-upstairs eating. • Big water bottles were placed on the tables when the kids were eating but when the grownups were eating all of a sudden no water could be placed on the tables and each guest had to order a small water bottle. • Due to the setup of the buffet on the terrace and with the continuous movement in and out of the hall, the heat in the hall could not be maintained and several guest were cold. • Worst of all is that the service personnel, looking at the host and whispering  again lack of professionalism. • Service personnel eating the dessert behind the bar while guests are ordering drinks is also not very professional.

Although the location is very beautiful, you are definitely not in good hands there and it is not...

Wie dacht dat alle feestlocaties op elkaar lijken, heeft duidelijk nog nooit een voet gezet in Maison Mason. Stel je een idyllisch mini-kasteeltje voor, pal aan het water op het Eilandje, omringd door zoveel parkeerplek dat zelfs een Maserati-parade er moeiteloos kan aanmeren. Dat is nog maar het begin van de magie.

Ik vierde er mijn veertigste verjaardag en werd van bij de start compleet in de watten gelegd. Bij aankomst kregen mijn gasten een keuze uit huisgemaakte ijsthee of sprankelende cava – allebei even verfijnd, en heerlijk om zo meteen de feestvreugde aan te wakkeren. Daarop volgde een walking dinner, verzorgd door de huiscateraar "Ambrosia Fijnkeuken": een familiebedrijf waar men koken tot ware kunst heeft verheven. Elk gerecht, van vegetarische creaties tot aangepaste menu’s voor zwangere genodigden, was subliem. En dan, als orgelpunt, een afsluiter om duimen en vingers bij af te likken: een exclusief kaasplateau én, zonder overdrijven, de beste chocoladetaart die ik ooit geproefd heb. Mijn gasten zijn nog steeds lyrisch.

Toch las ik recent een recensie - hieronder - waarin iemand beweert dat Maison Mason afspraken niet nakomt en onvriendelijke bediening biedt. Wel, ik heb me werkelijk suf gepiekerd hoe dat kan: tijdens mijn feest verliep ieder facet volgens het vooropgestelde draaiboek. Geen enkel detail ontsnapte aan de aandacht van het team Maison Mason. Communicatie? Vlekkeloos. Flexibiliteit? Zonder met de ogen te knipperen.

Alsof dat allemaal nog niet genoeg is, krijg je voor de eindafrekening eerst een verhelderend telefoontje van Jan, zodat alles op voorhand duidelijk is en je niet voor onverwachte verrassingen komt te staan. Het is die openheid die ervoor zorgt dat je je als gastheer of gastvrouw volledig kan focussen op maar één ding: genieten en vieren.

Maison Mason heeft mijn veertigste verjaardag naar een hoger niveau getild, en ik kan met de hand op het hart zeggen dat elke seconde er eentje was om in te lijsten. Zoek je een locatie waar authenticiteit, klasse en perfectie naadloos in elkaar overvloeien? Dan hoef je niet langer verder te speuren. Het enige waar je spijt van zou kunnen krijgen, is dat je dit niet eerder hebt ontdekt.

Kortom: Never again? Integendeel! Voor mij staat één ding vast: bij Maison Mason kom je terug – en liefst zo...
