My family and I had so much fun on our overnight hiking adventure with Yann. A few months prior to the trip, the team was extremely helpful, organising our overnight hike to Jacques Lake. All our questions were promptly and clearly responded to, which was especially assuring since we were travelling from abroad. We had video calls with Chris and Yann prior to the hike itself to ensure we had the appropriate gear and to ask any remaining questions we had. The hike itself was so so much fun!!! My family and I range in age and hiking ability, but Yann was sure on making our experience the right amount of fun and challenging for everyone. He was extremely knowledgable, and shared insights and stories regarding the trails, wildlife, backcountry hiking/ camping, etc. during our journey to jacques lake. We got to do, try, and see so many things we wouldn’t otherwise see if we were to do the overnight hike ourselves. We learned a lot about the various berries growing in the area, the history of the trails, and Yann’s life stories. Yann and the Canadian skyline adventure team as a whole are such genuine, kindhearted and dedicated people. They really love what they do and the nature around them, and it’s extremely apparent just from talking to them and hiking with Yann.
my family and I could not recommend them enough. If you are looking to visiting Jasper/ the Rockies/ Canada, we would strongly recommend doing an overnight hike with Canadian Skyline Adventure. They have different overnight hike offerings for different ability levels, so I’m sure there will be something right for you! My dad is in his 60s and he comfortably completed the Jacques Lake hike!! We hope you have as much fun as my...
Read moreThe skyline trail with Canadian Skyline Adventures was definitely the highlight of my stay near Jasper.
Staying out for 3 days, camping on backcountry campsites, soaking in the views and carrying all your stuff plus tent and group food share was an amazing and empowering new experience for me.
As a rather unexperienced hiker I was bit nervous beforehand on how I'll manage the distances - but after detailed packlist and information prior to the hike, Christian ensured me and attentively suggested small breaks at spectacular viewpoints along the way, always minutes before I really needed them :)
Besides great talks and his impressive knowledge & patience to answer all our questions on wildlife and nature on the way, I have to highlight the amazing food: Most of the food in homemade and dehydrated by Sarah and Christian themselves. We were feasting on yummy lentil soup, salsa, hummus, granola ... imagine having banana pancakes with blueberry compote for breakfast in the mountains!
The hike itself is very rewarding: we stayed at Curator and Tekarra campgrounds. The distances are challenging but feasable - while soaking in the views you kind of forget about the miles you've covered. In July there were quite some fires in BC, sending over the smoke to tint the views, still absolutely worth it and I can highly recommend this hike with Canadian...
Read moreMORRO PEAK HIKE It was 8:00 am sharp, on a rainy morning, at the BRIGHT SPOT FAMILY RESTAURANT at the Petro-Canada station on Connaught Drive. I had just had poached eggs, whole wheat toast with butter and jam, Greek salad and hot coffee. Sarah was an on-the-spot friend. She checked my gear. She lent me a pair of her own rain pants. And hiking poles. We took Highway 16 to the Morro Peak trailhead. Then spent about 45 minutes on the magnificent trail. But it did get a bit difficult for me. Sarah pivoted. We hiked back down to the van. She took me to Old Fort Point. Wide, smooth trials, with only a few very steep parts, most of which have either rock staircases, or, at the end, a massive wooden staircase with a railing. We had lunch in the Red Chairs at the "second summit". The rain had stopped. The chairs were wet. Sarah put down waterproof foam sit pads. After lunch--with hot tea--we continued to the true summit. For a marvellous view of five mountain ranges. Sarah then drove me through Jasper, along Pyramid Lake Road to Pyramid Island, just to see it. Throughout the day, Sarah noticed each wildflower, squirrel, spider web, lichen...and bighorn sheep! We met five of them on the trail! Sarah told me to walk off-trail, around the sheep. She is an amazing Interpretive Guide. Merci...
