We showed up around 4:15pm. for supper, and we were able to get in right away. Our waiter Josh got our drink /food orders about 15 minutes after we were sat.
We were right by the bar, so we were able to see the bar tender make our drinks right away, we then saw them sit on the bar for 30 minutes. Josh walked by a handful of times, saw the drinks, and went to talk to other staff members. He had 3 tables at that time (including ours), and everyone was treated the same. When we finally got our drinks 30 minutes later, they were delivered by a different server who was basically just tired of seeing them sit on the bar. We arrived during happy hour (till 5pm) and most likely would have had another drink in that time if we had been delivered the initial drink in a timely manner. Our food was also brought out by other servers as well. Josh asked us how everything was about 5 minutes after we got the food (normal expected time). That would be the last time we seen him until we were done and he came to clear the table, at that time he asked if we wanted drink refills (no other time during the visit while we were actually eating our meal did he ask if we wanted drink refills). We asked for the bill and a box for my son's pizza, Josh brought the bill but no pizza box. We had to ask a manager for a pizza box. The bill ONLY gave you an option to tip, 18% was min and then I believe it went 20% , 25% and 30% after that. I'm sorry, but that server did NOT deserve an 18% tip for the service we received, never mind anything higher. The bartender was great, the food was mixed - 70% was made and tasted great while 30% was not the best. Josh did not seem like he really cared about our service as he knew he would be receiving a tip regardless of the service he provided. This was by far our most expensive meal throughout our trip, and with the service, food quality, and mandatory tip, regardless of service, as mentioned above, it definitely was not worth it. Our family made it a tradition for the past 14 years to go to Earl's each time we went to Jasper for the views and the experience. For now on, we will go...
Read moreThe place was not busy, less than half full. It was just 2 of us for dinner. We were greeted by a rude server to begin with. He seemed annoyed we had come. We were seated and we ordered shortly after. Unfortunately it took seemingly long for our food to arrive but we noticed other tables were also in the same position. I ordered the Fettuccini; it arrived barely warm. I tried to get any server's attention, it so happened that the server we met earlier was nearby so I gestures that I needed assistance. I was met with rudeness again, in a kind of "that's not my section so it's not my problem" attitude. I was shocked and asked him to get my server immediately. She was most helpful and took my food back to the kitchen. She also apologised for the rudeness of her colleague. The pasta came out and it was perfect then, however it was evident that the grill the garlic bread had been toasted on hadn't been cleaned in sometime as you could taste other food on it. I couldn't eat it. My friend's food was "sub par" for an Earls. We saw other tables who weren't content with their food or some still waiting and had been seated just after us. Eventually my friend was offered a new drink and when it was dropped down the empty glass wasn't removed. Not a big issue but I'd expect better quality service, especially for the price! Earls is not cheap! A server twice thought an order was for our table yet it wasn't ours. I thought because of all the hassle we'd endured surely they comp the pasta or offer a free drink or something. Zilch. A desperately...
Read moreIts hard to say this, because its a weird mixture of feelings. Ive been to this location a few times over the last 10 years, but i was really disappointed this time. We were celebrating my birthday in Jasper this time and decided to try Earls again on more serious level, not just beer and chicken fingers and fries(which btw are high point for this location). Our server was very kind, but an awful server. He was non existent, almost 30 mins for is to find someone to get dessert. We had to track someone else down. Then another 20mins to get the bill. It was busy, but at a place like the Keg they handle it. Here they could not. My wife and I both ordered the ribsteak($54) keg is $45 btw. Our steaks were cold and undercooked. We ordered medium rare and it arrived very rare. I dont mean to sound elitist, but im an Alberta boy. I grew up farm life and eating beef. It was disappointing. Im not a stranger to good steaks. Keg, barbacoa and chop all did much much better. The cut was half decent, but they were full of silver. I know this is a chance you take with rib steak, but not like this. I know in the first bite if a steak is delicious and this was not. I only write this review because this is not my first disappointment here. Dont waste the money here at Earls. Spend it locally. L&w a local greek restaurant was 1/3 the price but triple the quality. Different food style of course, but delicious...
