Horseshoe is the largest of the three major waterfalls collectively known as Niagara Falls on the Niagara River. Approximately 90% of the water volume flows at Horseshoe, which takes its name from the long curved shape of the falls.
Horseshoe falls is 820 metres in length and the falls are over 50 metres in height. You can view it best from the Canadian side at the viewing lookout directly beside Horseshoe Falls. From here you can watch from up close, nearly 2.5 million litres of water per second falling and crashing into the river below. The tremendous volume creates a beautiful spectacle accompanied by water mist that shoots upward a couple hundred metres into the sky.
