I have stayed at a lot of Comfort inns across Ontario and have never had such a negative experience. We chose this hotel due to the proximity to the Comic Con that we were attending with our children. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone that is travelling with children.||When I first arrived I was charged two random amounts on my credit card. When asked they indicated it was a security deposit and parking fee. I was aware of the parking fee of $20 a night as listed on my invoice when I pre booked the hotel. When I arrived I was charged $30 a night. Most hotels are free parking. I understand it is a tourist area etc but be clear and upfront with parking charges. Do not state in the email it is $20 a night and then charge $30. Not only was there an additional charge, every time we left the parking lot, they struggled to find a place for us to park again. We opted to mostly walk as we didn’t want to lose the parking spot we were in.||When we arrived in our room, it was worn down and not clean. We decided to make the best of it and spent most of our time away from the hotel. My children were super excited that the hotel had a pool. We got took them down and were absolutely disgusted at the sight of the pool. It was full of hair and had a nasty film on the top of the water. On our second night, the kids begged to go in the pool and we would not allow it due to the disgusting quality of the water. We found the hot tub to be a little cleaner and agreed we would check it out. When we entered the pool area in early evening hours, there were people sitting around the pool vaping and engaging in not great activities. They went back to the room very disappointed.||When we went to the breakfast room on the first morning we were shocked we had to go outside and then walk into the entrance of the building to get down to the breakfast room. Once we were there they took a tally of who was entering to eat. We found the selection of food to be sparse. We are not picky eaters and my kids had trouble choking down the eggs and food. While we were sitting at the table there was a sign that stated 20 minute dining limit. While we sat to choke down our food, a staff member stood a foot from us staring at us eating. She then took our plates before we were even done eating. I felt like I was in a prison and certainly didn’t feel comfortable. Needless to say we went to McDonald’s the next morning.||As we have children, we brought left overs back from restaurants to warm up when they were hungry again. Only to realize the rooms are not equipped with microwaves. We tried to make the best of it and figured we would take the food home and warm it up. When we went to leave we realized the fridge malfunctioned and all our food was warm and had to be disposed of.||Upon my leaving the hotel, I checked my banking and saw I was charged an additional two day parking fee and deposit. It shows that it has been fixed but it seemed like a lot of ridiculous reaches into my credit card. I did not feel comfortable with the situation.||In total I paid $527 for a two night stay with parking. We decided to not pay the $20 a day WIFI fee. It was dirty, run down, unsafe for children, and not welcoming. I would have been better to pay the extra money to stay at a nicer hotel.||To the manager don’t bother using you cut and paste response that you are looking into it that you have put on every bad review that you...

Read moreFirst off I would like to say that all of our interactions with the staff at this hotel were fine, everyone was very nice and very professional. The facility itself was not maintained to what I have come to expect from a Comfort Inn, especially in Niagara Falls, Ontario, one of the most visited cities in the world. The first thing that stood out was that elevator walls were all chipped and dirty, and at one point the elevator was out of order, leaving some patrons to have to descend or ascend the stairs in a hotel with 8 floors. The hallways were very musty smelling and had a smokey smell as well. The room seemed ok, but still had and unpleasant odor to it, similar to when you turn your heat on for the first time in the winter months. I removed the filter in the old school wall air conditioner, and it was covered in dirt and dust. I took it upon myself to clean it with the shampoo provided by the hotel in the bathroom sink, hoping the shampoo would give the room a fresh smell when the air conditioner was on. The following morning my wife went to take a shower and the rubber tub mat was draped over the tub edge, she went to lay it on the tub floor, and the underside of the mat was filthy and covered in mold. She was going to throw it into the trash, but was afraid we would get a bill for it. I have also never stayed in a hotel where they let you know what your towel and wash cloth inventory is, and if any are missing, you will be billed $10.00 for each item missing at the end of your stay. Wow, I didn't know that overly bleached white towels were so valuable and sought after. I took advantage of the free breakfast that was provided, which was your typical scrambled eggs, sausage, and my favorite the homemade waffles, everything was good, and the buffet was one of the most well staffed that I have ever seen at any hotel I have ever stayed at. They had 4 or 5 people maintaining the buffet service, very impressive. What I was not impressed with was the sign on every table, stating that there was a 20 minute time limit to eat your breakfast. The dining facility was very large, so it was not due to lack of space. The last tactic that they used after checking my hotel bill, very sketchy to say the least. When Travelling to Canada, I always use my Mastercard to make sure that you receive the best currency exchange rate on your transaction, which was 38%, which I received on my other purchases while in Canada. This hotel did their own currency exchange at 21% and billed the credit card in Canadian funds and not in American funds, so we lost 17% on our currency exchange. I will be taking this up with the hotel chain as well as disputing the credit card transaction. This is all on the ownership group of this hotel. You have a great location close to the falls and the casino, don't take advantage of your clientele. Use some of your advertising budget on maintaining your goldmine. I think that this is a very fair assessment of the reason for my very poor recommendation of...
