It was our first time visiting Copenhagen and Denmark is famous with its local delicacy: Smorrebrod (open faced sandwich). We were looking for authentic smorrebrod for breakfast that was open around 9am, and I found this restaurant with excellent rating on Google Maps.

We went to this restaurant and the owner was very friendly and helpful, as I told her this is the first time we're trying smorrebrod and asked for her recommendation. She recommended the Herring with apple.

The smorrebrods that we ordered: Hjemmelavet æblesild (Herring with apple) Bacon and egg Roasted pork & apple

We absolutely love the Herring with apple, it was creamy yet very fresh, I could eat that every day! and the price is fantastic as 3 smorrebrod + 2 bottles of juice only cost around 80dkk / 11 €, which is amazing!

Fantastic little sandwich shop that has been around Islands Brygge for 25 years according to the signage! I can see why it's stayed so long. The owners are super friendly and really helpful.. even when your Danish is really not that great (non existent in my case). I was recommended an Apple and Herring Smørrebrød (Danish open faced sandwich) and also had a potato and fried onion one. Both were delicious and far more filling than I anticipated. I was really hoping to try a few more. They also make normal sandwiches and they have a little table to sit at if you want to eat in or everything you buy can be packed to take with you.
