I was really disappointed by my visit to Dover Street Market Parfums. From the moment I walked in, not a single staff member greeted me or offered assistance—they stayed in their own group, chatting, which created a very unwelcoming atmosphere. For a boutique that focuses on niche perfume brands, I was surprised there wasn’t any clear way to actually learn about the fragrances. The displays only show bottles and prices, with no accessible information on the notes or compositions. This is a wonderful store and visiting it was a terrific experience. The staff member was extremely patient with my young son and me; though I have no doubt he spoke better English than me, he patiently let us fumble through our beginner French, and even helped us with grammar a bit.

But, of course, you don’t go there to practice French! He was also very kind and patient with us as we smelled and sampled—even though we bought very little. My son and I know nothing about colognes, but he was extremely understanding.
