My husband found this place for me. We both like massage and this place offer traditional Japanese shiatsu massage in a joined tatami room.
The moment we stepped into Suisen, we felt like we were teleported to Japan. Since I only have few more months to live with my cancer, I am unlikely to be able to enter Japan again. I am happy to find this little bubble of Japan where I can communicate with the Japanese staffs in Japanese.
First we were offered new masks (made in HK đ), then we were ask to choose our tea and sweet after the massage. The selection of Japanese tea was good, I went for Gokuro which is a pain to make with specific temperature requirements.
Then we were let into the tatami rooms upstairs, changed into a comfortable clothing and then laid down on the futon
Throughout the massage the staff was professional and just the right amount of pressure. I had pain in my liver initially because laying on my front means pressing against my liver cancer. She give me a small pillow to put on my chest and that resolved the issue.
The music was relaxing and not intruding, it was a very relaxing experience while some pressure is applied to my muscles, at no point I considered it painful.
After the 2 hours massage, I felt refreshed and the whole body less tense. I asked the staff to give me an extra attention to my upper back because I struggle to use my abs muscle so my upper back been compensating.
I would recommend Suisen if you love Japan and shiatsu...
Read moreI was visiting Paris from London for a couple of days and yesterday I walked past Maison Suisen on my way back from the Marais. I was intrigued as it said it did both massages and also served as a tea room. I loved the vibe inside and the helpful and friendly lady at reception. She told me they only had two slots available for the rest of February so I quickly grabbed the one for 4:45 today. I opted for the aromatherapy oil massage, which was âŹ145 for the hour. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed so warmly. Miyuki was my masseuse who introduced me to what she will be doing and also gave me a menu to choose my tea and macaron flavour for after the massage. Having had plenty of Thai and Chinese massages in my life, I'd never had a Japanese. Miyuki asked me what pressure I liked and where she should focus. Even though her English wasn't very strong, I so appreciated her communicating in English for me. The massage was not the typical deep pressure I'm used to, but it was very good and relaxed me completely having done 20k steps in the day. The tea and the lemon macaron were the perfect icing on the cake. Would highly recommend Maison Suisen if you're ever in Paris and I will be sure...
Read moreExperience starts from beginning as soon as you enter and interact with the managers/reception all the way to the time you leave. I had a 1hr massage on Wednesday am, it was very simple and easy to understand, comfortable. I had with Rika who was very nice and friendly, you can choose the level of pressures, customise where to focus and avoid on your body and give feedback to adjust during the entire massage. I felt all the tension in my neck and back muscles go afterwards.
At the end you get a tea of your choosing and an organic macaron (either lemon or matcha) and enjoy, unfortunately there was extremely loud construction right at the doorsteps of the Suisen and I heard it already at halfway through my massage and had started tea sitting next to this noise but the reception manager kindly brought me upstairs to enjoy it and offered me a lovely tea bag for gratuit.
This is great customer service and way to keep its...
