I had an appointment in February earlier this year. I didn’t want to write a review at the time because I was so emotional, but after several months have passed, I can confidently say that this was a bad haircut. I will say that my French is pretty elementary, so the stylist and I used google translate to communicate throughout the appointment and maybe this is what made some issues.
I don’t remember the name of my stylist but it was not Anissa. My stylist was kind and pleasant, but she didn’t seem familiar with my hair texture and did not give me what I wanted. I asked for a small trim and shaping (showed photos, one of which included myself from my previous haircut). She ended up taking off way too much of my hair. Then when she was styling, she asked me if I wanted my hair defined (I always style my hair very defined so I said yes) she proceeded to finger coil my hair, instead of using gel to define the natural curl in my hair. She then proceeded to cut more after that which was nonsense because when I washed and styled my hair with my natural curl pattern later, some pieces were awkward. Because I don’t ever finger coil my hair.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t until the end that I realized how much hair she had taken off. I had to ask her to stop cutting because she was still going and even after I asked she wanted to continue… In the drying process, she stretched my hair as much as possible and it just barely touched my shoulders. I was honestly distraught to see that even when I pulled my hair, it didn’t go any lower. I have been a natural hair girl for about a decade. It takes my hair a bit long to grow and the stylist ruined at least a year of my progress with this cut. I have gone to many curly hair salons and in my opinion, this one is not good if you have a real goal and vision for your hair. The stylist seemed to be more interested in giving the same basic haircut and “lesson” she gives most curly haired people rather than listen to my specific requests because the shape was not what I requested either. But at that point, I didn’t even care about the shape anymore. I was just sad that my hair was gone and progress ruined.
At the end of the haircut, I told the stylist and the team at the front that I was really disappointed but their only strategy was to try and convince me that this is what I wanted…At that point, I didn’t see the reason to continue talking as my hair was gone and they could not put it back. It has been 7 months now and my hair has still not reached the length it was when I came to this salon. So disappointing. It makes me sad all the time.
The first photo is one day after my appointment when my hair is freshly styled and completely wet. The second photo is freshly washed and mostly wet a few weeks before I went to my appointment. You can’t see all of my hair in the photo but from the piece that fell forward, you can see how long it was originally. I don’t have any photos of my hair after the appointment when it’s dry because I was so upset but you can imagine that if it is barely touching my shoulders when it is wet then it was above my shoulders after it dried, whereas before the haircut even when it was dry, it was still below my shoulders.
Overall, the people are kind the studio was nice, but they seem to have a one-size-fits-all method for cutting hair and maybe not familiar with all curly...
Read moreExtremely disappointing curly haircut despite great Google reviews. I was really excited to get my haircut here but the experience was a severe disappointment. These are the reasons:
They got my appointment wrong by half an hour in their system even though I came at the time stated in the booking confirmation.
Because they messed up the appointment time, the haircut was very rushed and I was super anxious throughout the experience that they would make mistakes (which they did).
I showed the hairdresser a photo of what I wanted and the end result looked nothing like the photo. I think because they were so rushed they didn’t do a good job.
The assistants were totally useless. While the hair dresser was cutting my hair, she asked the assistant to help but she was off gossiping with the other stylists. In one case, the hairdresser was using a clipper to tidy up the back of my neck and it ran out of power when she was half finished. She asked the assistant to get her one that was charged but the assistant ignored the request. The hairdresser then just left the neck half done and I had to fix it myself when I got home.
Despite this awful experience I was still charged full price for a...
