I can concur that there is an issue with the management and the staff. To be more precise, I found the french staff very nice and helpful. It was when I went to the cashier asking to order a size that was not available in store, that I was met with rudeness. After standing in the queue for the dressing room for almost 15 minutes with 3 other customers, finally one of the 5 girls working at the store ran up the stairs with an armful of clothes, out of breath, to help all of us and retrieve items that were not accessible on the racks in the showroom. The showroom has limited items-why they have chosen to make the process more difficult and time consuming than it should be by forcing customers to demand specific items and sizes is beyond me.
Meanwhile, 4 other staff members kept walking past customers who were waiting in line. They completely ignored us proceeding to walk nonchalantly up and downstairs empty handed without asking us if we needed assistance. Not sure what they are being paid to do? I felt bad for the one french girl who was retrieving items for customers. She was the only one working. The rest acted like the customers did not exist and were not their concern.
I went to the register to ask if I could order a larger size in store to waive shipping costs. Apparently they donāt do that, so I asked if she knew how much the shipping costs within France might be? She said she had no idea and did not try to even inquire for me, even with the screen in front of her. Really? This staff member was obviously American and we conversed in french. There was no attempt made to fulfill my purchase.
I donāt think they really care about customer service or making a sale. I would hope the manager of this store would read this, identify these individuals and make some changes. This is not the way to operate a store or treat customers.
As a final note to be aware of: I noticed the items were well designed and had the vintage aesthetic, but without the quality and an astronomical price tag. Definitely cheap fabric quality and materials, most of it is made in parts of Asia, so you can already deduce that ethical practices are not a concern. To be fair, I still want to order the item I came in for because the cut/ design is great, but I have to justify the price over the poor fabric quality and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe customer service at this store is appalling. I came ready to spend a lot of money and was very disappointed by the staff, particularly three women with brown hair. This was on Friday, October 14, 2022. There was a brief āBonjourā upon entering and that was it. I was thoroughly ignored, routinely walked by without any acknowledgment. When someone finally acknowledged my existence, she seemed annoyed and put out. She brought me two dresses in two sizes and I tried them on. Once I tried them on, I walked out of the dressing room and hoped a sales associate would engage with me on the fit and cut and how the dress looked on me. Again, I was ignored incessantly. I was extremely kind and pleasant, but continually ignored. I met two other American women in the dressing rooms who echoed the astonishingly poor service at Rouje. Since no sales clerk would help me or speak to me, I went to sit in the entry way and think over my possible purchase of this dress, as well as other items. I was joined by a friend who was with me. (The sales clerks treated her even worse than me.) Another woman was also taking a shopping break and sitting there in the entry. A clerk snapped VERY rudely at all three of us that this was not a cafe, thus suggesting we leave. As if weād just walked in off the street. Unbelievable. She then went inside and spoke to her colleague about us. The colleague then sneered. I then went back inside and looked at the dress I was considering buying. Again, no one spoke to me. I finally left, feeling shamed, embarrassed, and incredibly disappointed. It was a horrible experience. There are many negative reviews on here and Iām very sad to add my negative review. Iām a huge fan of Jeanne Damas and the entire line. But the customer service at Rouje is the worst in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI bought a cardigan on my first visit. Two staffs who helped me were kind and answered to all my questions with enough time. But one of their client mistook me for cutting in line and insulted me in French. (they weren't in line, perhaps waiting for a refund long time. I could only guessed.) Although his girlfriend told me that it was okay to pay first, he kept sneering. Under these circumstances, other staffs just smiled without any restriction. I was busy so I payed my bill and left but the situation was bizarre.
On my second visit, I bought a lipstick palette. There was not much choice in store since the sale was over. staffs didn't say hello, but I think it might be French culture. Cashier suggested buying as a set, and I said I would only buy a palette this time. She looked displeased. She didn't ask me if I was a Rouje member but asked the other customers. Is it because the purchase amount is too small? or they donāt usually ask to foreigners? I have no idea and doesnāt feel welcome.
I bought some clothes on their website before and went to the offline store because I was tired of slow delivery and refund policy. However, there are few kinds of clothes in offline stores, and employees don't look happy if I don't spend money. I like Rouje's unique vintage design and sensibility, but I don't think there's any reason to visit the store while feeling this pressure as a customer. Improving product quality and customer service will be necessary to get customers to love the brand Rouje, not just...
