I feel compelled to write this review after returning home with huge patches of hair remaining from a very painful and unprofessional sugar waxing appointment.
I walked into the shop, planning to make an appointment for the following day, and they insisted that they could take me later that day for a maillot intégral (brazilian sugar wax) and demi jambes (lowe leg sugar wax). The women at the counter were very nice and understood my french, even speaking to me in english.
Let me be clear: I have never tried sugaring, however, I was told it was a less painful method of hair removal in comparison to waxing, with more natural and beneficial properties for the skin. I was looking forward to trying it.
However, this hair removal experience, by far, was the most painful for me. The older Indian woman who treated me seemed nice, however once she began, I realized her methods were too aggressive. At one point, I had to ask her to stop momentarily, just so I could breathe and take a break. This is unusual for me, as I usually have high pain tolerance. By the time I walked in and out of the shop, only 20 minutes had passed, so honestly, I am assuming this woman just went as fast as she could to get me out of the shop before her next appointment.
When she was done, she asked me if I was happy with the results, and I told her that there were still some evidently visible hairs remaining that I wanted her to remove. She did not remove them. She told me that "Sugaring cannot remove all of the hair" and that the hair I was asking her to remove could not be removed in this way. The hair that was visible was definitely long enough (trust me, it had been a WHILE), even for waxing. She did not attempt to tweeze these last few hairs, as many waxing specialists will do if the hair is too short. She also did not give me a mirror to see if I was happy with the job or wanted to see what was removed from this sensitive and hard to reach region of my body!
Usually, the person doing this service helps you clean off the wax or offers to apply a soothing substance like aloe vera to your skin after hair removal (even with threading and electrolysis). Without any discussion, she turned, washed her hands, handed me a towelette with some alcohol and oil on it, and left the room.
I had so much wax still on my body my skin was sticking to the paper covering the table. There was no time to ask her for a mirror or anything else. I tried the best I could to get all the sugaring wax removed with the cloth myself, but did not manage to get it all off (as I could not see where all of the wax was without a mirror!) and left the room in a rush. At least sugar waxing is water soluble.
When I got home, I was able to look at what she had done, and there are huge patches of hair that were not removed. It was 63 Euros for the entire service, and I am disappointed, and not specifically because all of the hair was not removed. I feel like I was rushed in and out the door, with no efficiency or care for my satisfaction as a paying customer.
I am even dubious about the cleanliness of this place. As poshly decorated as it is on the interior, the woman who performed the service appeared run down, had an open wound on her finger that may or may not have been bleeding (I could not tell because it is dimly lit inside and one of her fingers was reddish under the sugaring wax). After this service, the darkly painted decor and the dim lighting made me suspicious that it's being used to mask unhygienic or unmaintained facilities.
In the past, I have used hard wax, soft wax, threading, and electrolysis for hair removal. All of these methods of hair removal I have tolerated well. This is the first time I have experienced such a lack of sensitivity to the client during a hair removal session. I will definitely try sugaring again, but with a different shop. The techniques used by the waxing specialist here is poor. I would not...
Read moreLooking at the previous reviews i was excited as they were positive, i went to get a full leg and bikini wax. Well, i NEVER experienced so much Pain in my life!!!! (and i gave birth to 2 children) The wax they use is very interesting i have never seen it before and i travel all over the world. it basically is a cold wax made with sugar and honey that they use the same glob over and over your whole body with their hand, it is so thick that as they are spreading it it hurts. Then when it rips the hair off it is so painful tears were running down my face. Also at first they wanted to have 2 women do my legs at the same time, until i finally could not bare it as i could not take the pain coming from both sides of my body simultaneously. I told them to please only have one technician. After technician was ripping the hairs from my bikini from all different directions that i just am praying when it grows in i don't get...

JE ME SENS MAL TRES MAL !!
