Mokrito - Piazza San Rocco | Siracusa — Restaurant in Syracuse

Yesterday for my girlfriend birthday we decided to have a dinner at Mokrito at piazza San Rocco we were approached from a guy with glasses who we believe was the manager of the place who offered us a table for two and I specified him that was my girlfriend birthday. A few minutes later we were sit we were approached from a waiter a young girl with short hairs and tattoos who promptly took our order and left.After 20 minutes the same lady comes by and ask if we did place the order and we said yes with herself and she did go away. After one hour we noticed that tables that were sited after us they were receiving their food so we did ask the waiters where our food was and the went in the kitchen and come back to us saying to wait 5 minutes and our food will be at the table. They brought our food after 5 minutes a very poor aperifish that was not nearly the same a the one we had in the past food was warm and not crunchy I think they made it with the left overs of others as it was empty and warm and did not looked fresh we did not complain we eat a bit as our hunger was gone as we sited at 8:45 pm and we received our food at 10 pm. One waiter came and ask us how everything was and we did say that we were not happy at all she did not apologise she went away and we thought that she will communicate it to the manager and the manager would come over to at list apologies but nobody came and after 5 minutes we did go to the till to pay our bill and left. The bottom line? Service is helpful when they have a moment and I really had a great burger at Mokrito. Everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked fantastic - large boards of seafood for 2 or more people, the burgers, etc. Their rating isn’t the food, and I see why they’re rated like they are. The service is a little chaotic and it wasn’t obvious to this American how to get seated. There isn’t a hostess stand so I stood there until I could flag down a server. Once seated, Mokrito is a chaotic dance of servers, food and drinks. They don’t stop moving, that’s for sure.

I ordered the double burger and it’s big! The fries were also different. I felt like they were light and fluffy and hand cut. I wish a few more fries came with the order, but I didn’t leave hungry. That’s not even a complaint, just an observation.

I’m not sure how it’s organized, or it it is at all, but on a cool night in Siracusa, I had a wonderful meal surrounded by families and friends and incredible architecture. I’d definitely eat...

Overcharge SCAM! Ordered aperitivo for two, supposed to be €16 each for two people (total €32, we asked before being seated) charged an extra €2 for “sauce”, charged €5 for nonexistent table service, charged €14 for the drinks that were supposed to be included, even after we asked before being seated to make sure. Rude and arrogant woman who told us originally that the drinks were included denied it and suddenly claimed she didn’t speak English. Shameful and despicable behaviour, obvious that even the staff hate her. Food was cold, over salted and generally lacking. Most of the dish is potato. Seems like a great deal but after all the extra charges it becomes way too much for what you get (which is basically fried potato with a couple really old mussels on top and some anchovies) Staff tries but they seem a bit overworked and micro managed.
