Kaleido Terrace - Ristorante Loungebar — Restaurant in Syracuse

Drinks are very well made, lovely view of the sea. I wanted to smoke a cigar and they asked me not to put in the terrace although many people were smoking cigarettes. The main reason was that they want to cater to their clientele first and foremost, who are Italian, and don't like the smell of cigar smoke. This is understandable, but a bit hypocritical nonetheless. Cigarettes are proven to be more dangerous but fair enough, I put it down to a cultural thing. We had asked the table nearest to us if would it would bother them and they said no. Lastly, they had a non smoking area inside their restaurant, which was completely empty. So I was a bit baffled as to why they don't tell their "clientele", who are their friends from what we observed diligently, to sit inside if they are so bothered by smoking. On our final night in Sicily (sadly 😔), we were keen to find a dinner venue that would reflect the wonderful week we had enjoyed on this magical island. Spending our final three nights in Ortigia meant that we were able to book a most amazing dinner at Kaleido. Opting for the sushi menu, we sipped on our perfectly mixed cocktails as we watched the sun set. As we selected from the menu, our waiter assisted us in balancing our options as well as matching a local wine (Moria - Grillo from Agrigento). Reviewing this was not easy, because I have some mixed feelings. Let’s start with the positive: the view is great, very nice also very nice atmosphere and music cocktails were good, nothing special sushi menu is really good, we tried one roll and the bao buns and was honestly very delicious Some negative points: staff was not super friendly, could have been nicer, especially for the price you pay we ordered the risotto and linguine and was below average it’s not cheap and rather expensive for what you are getting

In conclusion: a nice experience, with great view and really good sushi menu. If you are willing to pay the price, I would recommend going...
