The reviews are spot on. We really liked this hotel. While not huge, our room was larger than the previous ones we had in Japan. And faced East so we had a view of the River, the train station we arrived at and a partial view of Kiyomizu-dera, the most iconic temple in Kyoto.
The beds were comfortable, everything was clean, bath products exquisite, the amenities plentiful, including the free water, coffee, tea, and other beverages offered free of charge downstairs. The staff were very helpful. And they had an elevator.
There was a 7-11 across the street, which was terrific because we got out early and a lot of restaurants didn't open until 11. The egg sandwiches are as good as people say.
The location can't be beat. We got off our train from Osaka and it was about a 5 minute walk across the bridge. Bus 206 was back across the bridge and not far from the train station. It went to a lot of places. Including the famous temple above, or all the way to Gion and other areas.
Kyoto station is a bit longer of a walk, but it was 100 degrees so we opted for Uber. Didi is better, but we couldn't get the app to work. From there you can get a bus or train anywhere. I would definitely stay there again. Beautiful, quiet area in a...
Read moreI really enjoy my stay. the hotel is quiet. There's a 7-eleven across the way. and you're close to two subway stations (one of which is the Kyoto Station; it took me 10 min to walk). With Kyoto Station being right there it was very convenient for me to travel to and from Osaka and to take other JR lines to other cities like Nara / Kobe.||For the price and location, this hotel got everything you need. I really like the lobby area where you can hang out and heat up food. they even provide beverage machines. You can get a variety of different drinks. They had water (hot/cold), tea, milk tea, matcha latte, coffee, grape juice / soda, and more.|You also get two bottled water in your room each day.||The room is big enough for two people. Compared to many other hotels in japan, this hotel room is quite spacious. The bathroom is a bit small but we have no complaints about it. We expect the room to be small as this is in Japan. We also expected that we won't be spending much time in the room anyway - the room is only to sleep. The majority of our day is outside exploring.||We felt very safe in this hotel as well as in this...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed for two nights in April 2023. The hotel was a little disappointing. The room was small but we knew that. There was little attention to detail (which we did experience at other budget hotels in Japan). The bathroom was tiny and the sink shared the water faucet with the shower, which was meant to save space but was very inconvenient. The shower head was impossible to fix to the wall in a convenient way so you basically had to hold it to shower. We did not have wifi one evening and our room was deep inside the building so no good phone reception either (and a window with frosted glass overlooking an alleyway) On the good side, the room was clean (no complaints there). Location was average, the area is alright but I would not stay there again. The river bank is very close but is not attractive at all (coming from Europe you kind of expect better, but that’s on us). Overall, I would not stay there again but it was not a...
