I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming ryokan in Kyoto and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the location with its lovely river running along the street, and the easy access to all of Kyoto's major attractions. The check-in procedure was effortless, with the friendly staff making me feel welcome and comfortable from the start. I was delighted to discover that my room was equipped with all the amenities I could possibly need, making my stay even more enjoyable. One of the highlights of my stay was the traditional Japanese bath in cypress wood, which was an experience I will never forget. It was the perfect way to unwind after a busy day exploring the city, and left me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. The breakfast was also a real treat, with a delicious selection of Japanese dishes served in the traditional style. It was a fantastic way to start each day, and set me up perfectly for a day of sightseeing. Overall, I would highly recommend this ryokan to anyone visiting Kyoto. The location, amenities, and service were all outstanding, and I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you to the staff for making my stay so memorable!

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, beautiful river. This is a entirely traditional style Japanese hotel. The entrance is garden like, with a fountain spring which allows you to clean your hands and mouth in Japanese style at the gate. The staff at reception are always so friendly and polite. You will need to store and change your shoes at the reception. The guest room is extremely beautiful and cozy with authentic Japanese furniture and finishing. If you selected a room with river view, you can even smell the scent of flowers. We even get two sets of Japanese bathing suits in our room. There is a furo 風呂 (Japanese style timber bath tub) with a device that allows you to adjust the temperature and volume. The breakfast can be served at your room (western style) or in the restaurant (Japanese style) There are plenty bars, cafe and late night food nearby. I would say it matches all my expectations about my trip in Kyoto.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, they made the experience even better! We got a free room upgrade, woo hoo! The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable - the perfect place to stay after an exhausting day being out. The location was a few minutes walk away from the bus stop, the train station was a little bit farther out. We didn't mind the walk, it's in a cute neighborhood area. It's conveniently close to major tourist attractions like Nishiki Market, Kiyomiza-dera Temple, Gion, and Fushimi Inari. Their luggage storage system was remarkably convenient; they held our bags both before check-in and after check-out at no extra cost. We ordered a Japanese breakfast for an extra fee, it was great! We only booked for one night but wished we had booked for our entire stay in Kyoto. Would definitely book again. Here are some pics of the neighborhood and the Japanese breakfast we had.

We stayed at this ryokan style hotel for 6 nights. It’s got the local charm with modern touches. We were greeted by the receptionist who were dressed In kimonos 👘. As per the local tradition you have to remove your shoes and they provide you with a locker and also sandals to wear inside the hotel. We were escorted to our room which was spacious and well decorated.it had tatami mats as well a a queen size bed. There were Japanese style chairs which were very comfortable. The bath resembled an onsen made of wood it was amazing even the floor was wood. The toilet was seperate and they had provided special sandals to be worn in the toilet pls do not take it out of the toilet. It was the best toilet with the seat coming up and down automatically and different settings to clean you up unbelievable. The toiletries were first class. They provide kimonos to be worn inside the room which was cool. They changed them daily. The hotel is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the main city but only two stops from Kyoto central. You could take a bus or the subway.the train stop in walking distance from the hotel so we took the train. The name of the station is Shichijo and to go Kyoto you change trains at the next stop which is Tofukuji and the JR line which is free if you have a JR pass. If you want to go to Nara you can take the train from Tofukuji and go straight to Nara. You can also go to Gion which is also one stop away from Shichijo so it’s a central location. To go go to Tofukuji take the sub express anyway the station is manned so you can ask for any assistance. The hotel does not have a hot kitchen but you can order breakfast which they deliver to your room but do not worry there are many places to have breakfast nearby There are also plenty of restaurants nearby for your meals and we went to two places, YA YA and Asipai or curry and coffee. Both places were fantastic friendly and good food. YA YA is located near the laundromat and serve tasty Japanese food and the owners are very friendly and look after you very well. Both eateries are walking distance from the hotel on the main road. The location of the hotel is fantastic near local houses and you get a sense of living with the community. It’s a got small canal nearby with a tree lined road. There are two craft beer places for beer lovers.||Now few words about the staff led by Kasumi the manager, as well as Kazuko, Maiko, and WU, They well all fantastic ever willing to assist and always welcoming and with a smile. They even gave us Instructions in Japanese to give to the taxi .Even the other staff members who did the housekeeping were helpful sorry I couldn’t get their names. Thank you to all. ||||When you book at this hotel you are sent a password to get into the hotel and the room . Make sure it is recorded somewhere safe. The reception is close from 10 pm to around 7.30 am so if it’s misplaced you may not be able to get in.||We would definitely return to this hotel we loved Kyoto for its history, beauty and charm. This is a super hotel with great customer service and definitely worth a stay. BTW the taxi cost from the main Kyoto rail station to the hotel is 850 yen . We took a cab as we had baggage on our return journey it cost yen 1050 so it’s not a big amount. If you are taking the train with JR pass to Tofukuji it’s free and 150 yen per person from Tofukuji...

This is not a normal hotel, it's a traditional ryokan. Location is by small canal on a very small alley, a bit difficult to find. It's very peaceful area. It was about 15 minutes walk from Kyoto station, take central exit towards north east. You are given a pin code by email before you arrive, store it somewhere safe as you need it to enter the hotel and your room as there are no keys. Check-in time is strictly from 3 pm until 9 pm. When entering hotel you are given uncomfortably slippers and your shoes are put in a locker. Just follow the way and you'll be fine. Receptionists were really helpful and spoke good English. There were also maps and other leaflets available in the reception.||||Our room #500 was on the top (5th) floor. It was spacious and very clean. Bed and pillows were hard but duvets really soft and comfy. There was no writing desk and two of the chairs didn't have legs, I guess this is how local people are when sitting on the tatami floor. Wardrobe was smallish, had only hangers and no shelves and safety box was inside it. Bathroom was wooden and reminded me of Finnish sauna. Shower was good. Toilet seat was burning hot, luckily house keeping was able to turn it off. Fridge, kettle and nespresso coffee machine were provided. 2 bottles of water and green tea was in the room but other tea could be picked from reception.||||Breakfast is brought to your room at your chosen time: 7.30-8, 8-8.30 or 8.30-9. It was minimal including 2 tiny rolls, 2 small slices of ham and cheese, little juice, some green salad and soup. If you pay extra you can get Japanese breakfast. It keeps hunger away about an hour, so head for early lunch. Yukatas, towels and sheets were changed daily, but house keeping is available only until 14.00 (2 pm).||||We carefully turned off A/C and lights in the morning when we left, and it was quite strange that they were all switched back on by house keeping when we returned. There is no bar or restaurant in the ryokan premises and night life is about 30 minutes walk to north. We enjoyed our stay, however, as this was really different and relaxing place after...

It is a Japanese-style service B&B. You need to change shoes in the internal area. It is surrounded by residential areas and is very quiet. It is in a small street between Kamogawa and Takase River. It is divided into South Building and North Building. The reception should be in the North Building. Both buildings There are other buildings in between, but not far.We arranged for a Chinese reception when we checked in, although we didn't really need it. We booked this hotel mainly because the triple room was large. The room facilities are good, with a full wooden bathroom, where you can take a bath and sauna. The tea sets, coffee cups and porcelain are exquisite. Mineral water, Uji green tea are provided every day, and there is also a coffee machine (supplying coffee balls). The transportation is quite convenient. The cost of taking a taxi from Kyoto Station is not high. If there are many people, it will cost about the same as taking the bus. It takes six or seven minutes to walk to the subway station. It is very convenient to go to Tofukuji Temple and Inari Taisha Shrine. It takes ten minutes to walk to the Kyoto National Museum, Sanjusangendo Temple, and Higashi Honganji Temple. There are supermarkets such as 7/11 and some bars and restaurants that are not very high-end.The service staff are very polite and can help with renting, making restaurant reservations, and ordering food delivery. Breakfast is delivered and requires reservation in advance. There are two options, Japanese and Western, and the portion is large...
