It was pouring rain today and I had nowhere to go so I checked on google maps to see what was near by and found the ramen factory. I got there soaking wet and the employees were super kind to me and knew I wanted some sort of shelter. I didn't actually make the ramen, but ordered a bowl. I'm vegan, so I asked if it was possible to make something for me and they did! They even replaced the meat with tofu for me instead of making it plain :) they are some of the sweetest people I've met in Kyoto. I took my time and was probably sat in the shop for over one hour. My umbrella was broken and I had left it outside, and when I came to leave one of the employees was trying to fix it with tape ❤❤ made me so happy to see how much these people cared. Makes the rain seem more like a blessing than anything, super happy I stopped by and if I'm ever around again I'll definitely take the lesson! Also, forgot to mention that the ramen was the most delicious thing I've eaten in a long time!! Definitely...
Read moreWe participated at the workshop of the 18/03/2025 with Maya, Harushi, Mani, and Akemi.
It was GREAT!
Everything explained in fluent English. Maya is a super hostess who was helping us also to take photos (and we also managed to get a selfie with her).
You get a full session of making Ramen, from the chicken cooking stage to making the noodle dough and the noodles, and then making your own mix of Ramen soup where you can play with the spices of your choice to your taste. At the end you eat your own soup. Mine was delicious.
The entire team is helpful during the preparation stage which is excellent with non-skilled :-) (not me... I made a perfect Ramen dish) participants such as your children.
We were a family group of 6 in total. We got a souvenir photo at the end, with the recipe, and several complementary gifts.
Overall, worth every yen and every minute that you will spend on this workshop.
Must do in Kyoto!
Many thanks to the team in Ramen Factory Kyoto from us.

Read moreWow, what a great idea! This is not a factory that mass produces ramen. It's more like a small kitchen workroom that can accommodate about 20 people.
In this place your hosts Michi and Machi will assist you and your kids while you get completely hands on mixing your dough, rolling and kneading it, pressing and slicing it, preparing your chicken, blowtorching the chicken (kids love the blowtorch!) and mixing the soup. You then combine it all and eat the ramen that you just made.
You also get to keep the bandanna. You need to book online which is really easy via their website. You get about 1.5 hrs and the time goes quickly.
I couldn't recommend the experience more highly especially when everyone is a bit tired of temples. Michi and Machi are really energetic and inject a lot of fun into the experience.
Easy to get to, 1 stop from Kyoto station.
Also only 5 minutes further south is a hulking great temple with a cool Zen garden, and 10 minutes further south again are...
