We had an outstanding experience at Kamo Residences by Reflections. This small boutique is next to Kamo River and convinced in all categories: service, location, style and amenities. The receptionist and housekeeping were so friendly and helpful; we felt right at home as soon as we arrived.
The front desk prepared tips for dining out and exploring the different parts of the city. We wanted to see the non-tourist sites that Japanese people commonly visit. The concierge made us a list and shared it via WhatsApp with Google Maps links. All sites were sorted by city location, so we only made a few taxi rides. We mostly walked everywhere.
Our suite was stunning and highly modern, with some Japanese touches. The flooring was lovely: chilled granite, soft carpet by the emperor bed, silky sheets, and light duvet. It was very comfortable in the heat. The nightlight and aircon had voice control, which was terrific. Smart TV and sound systems cast our Spotify and Netflix.
The kitchen had everything we needed: cutlery, a wine connoisseur set with an aerator, pourer, and sealer, and a bottle of 2016 Margaux, which was fantastic. Management also sent us some complimentary cheese and fine meats, which was a nice touch.
The leather sofa in the living room is nice and soft to chill on. It's also got a coffee table and another large QLED TV—great for a movie evening. The dining table is just next to it. I got some work done there. The bathroom is compact but very modern and comfortable. It has bath salts for the tub and AESOP amenities.
We visited Kyoto mainly because we love the city's food and the diversity of top-notch restaurants. Before booking, the manager assured us they would get us to the top restaurants if we decided early enough where we wanted to go.
Counter dining for all reservations, as we wanted, and the concierge reserved the restaurants they had the best experience with. All were next-level and a mix of cutting-edge and traditional Kyoto cuisine. Each is superb and unique, from local tofu to fusion Kaiseki and high-end teppanyaki.
Last evening, we had a BBQ on the roof terrace, which we had requested upon arrival. We had Amazing Kobe beef from the local butcher, who is apparently very famous. We also had light salads, potato slices on the BBQ, fresh veggies for the grill, pepper sauce, and G&Ts + red wine with food. Staff set it up for us.
Shinkansen tickets and luxurious airport transfers were also a nice touch. I never faced any language or reservation issues during our stay. Excellence...
Read moreInitially contacted the concierge to get some info about our first visit to Kyoto and what they could provide to make it a memorable spring experience. Reservations returned shortly with a proposal for our 6-night stay for us and our friends.
The concierge also set up a 6-night dining plan at some top restaurants, including Michelin 1 and 2-star. All on short notice. Our Kaiseki and local Kyoto fusion experiences were unforgettable. Next level. Some were very nearby, and we had magical walks before and after along the river. The attention to detail and care for our requirements was excellent.
Our three-day guided tour, Shimogamo, Kamigamo and Arashiyama (early morning), was also carefully planned. We avoided the crowds and visited some more secret and less well-known sites. Besides our airport limousine transfer, the same dedicated chauffeur took us around the last two days. We could see many sites and have a lovely light lunch in between, such as local tofu and tempura curry.
We did not precisely follow our schedule according to plan; regardless, our chauffeur found us unique places to eat at noon. Knowledgable! We had great shopping at the local market for friends and family. Demachi Futaba is a famous local confectionary store nearby. The neighbourhood is dense with great shops and restaurants.
Our suites were on the first floor, with fantastic views over the walk and riverside, with shrines and temples in the background. We had super weather, so we opened the vast windows for breakfast, enjoying a fresh spring breeze with coffee, pastries, and champagne. The suites had high-tech amenities, such as smartphone-to-TV casting and voice commands. They also had excellent, supportive, yet comfortable beds with ultra-soft sheets.
Hotel staff supported us around the clock via WhatsApp, made changes to our schedule on the fly, and were very responsive. It is important to note that restaurant reservations must be honoured, which is quite strict in Kyoto. Our unforgettable experience was a great alternative to our...
Read moreThe hotel exceeded all expectations, earning a well-deserved five stars from my recent stay. Exceptional service provided by the staff was a standout feature, as they went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout our visit. From the moment we enjoyed our welcome champagne to the day we checked out, the staff's attentiveness and friendliness were excellent.
The suites are nothing short of luxurious and blend comfort and sophistication. Elegant. The attention to detail and furnishings is fantastic. Contemporary yet super comfortable.
The property is surrounded by a tropical garden. We smelled herbs like sage and rosemary many different kinds of flowers. It was super green and peaceful, with a colorful riverside in autumn. We used the picnic blanket in the room for a glass of wine by the river stepping stones.
The housekeeping staff had impeccable standards. Their commitment to hygiene was evident in every corner of our suite. They cleaned in the morning at the time we requested, and turned the beds over around 5 pm.
Great access to buses and trains simplified our travel, allowing us to reach our planned sights effortlessly. The northern location made it an ideal base for exploring popular sightseeing spots. As recommended by concierge Mr. Fan, we visited Shimogamo, Kamigamo Shrines, and the Botanical Gardens.
Traveling with my mother and best friend, we found this an excellent choice for our stay. Thank you so much for making us feel welcome. I am looking forward to our next visit...
