On our first visit to Japan, after averaging five miles of walking a day, a little treat for the feet is in order! We planned this side trip for a massage and it was a wonderful, one of a kind experience in Japan!
The spa is located on a small side street not too far away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist area. The spa is tiny, neat, clean and quiet, with soft meditative music playing. Although we had no reservations, we had a 10 minute wait before the start of our treatment.
We were first treated to a small drink and yummy Japanese snacks. They made sure our feet and ankles were okay and asked about any cuts or spots to be aware of… We chose the longer treatment (15 minute foot soak and 35 minute massage). You can pick your soak based on what you need - I chose matcha soak (bubbling) for tired feet. After the soak, my attendant got to work on my tired feet: she did a great job! My feet were refreshed and ready to go for more adventures in Japan!
I would recommend this for anyone wanting a first rate, one of a kind experience in...
Read morei got a very bad foot sore because I taking walk too much and not taking rest. So i decide to have a massage and I found this beautiful and comfortable place near Arashiyama. The place is not that big but enough for several people. We'll need to change our pants to their short pants. First they will put our feet to a warm water, there's is some choice like water with salt, flower, or matcha. I choice water with flower cuz it looks so beautifull and smell good. they will give you a matcha latte and some snack. delicious tho.
I got Kimi as my therapist. she's so beautiful and kind, she know im so tired and my feet hurt that bad. her English was amazing! I have a good time chit chat with her because I'm solo travelling and have no one to talk. we talk about Japan so much, make me interested to come again for work or studying in Japan. I hope I can meet her again. Thank you...
Read moreWanted to move away from the busy street and walked into this small alley. Saw a quaint little white shop hidden behind. Decided to do an impromptu foot massage. Staff was patient and gentle in explaining our options, checking if we have prior foot injury. Proceeded to choose our choice of foot bath and drink. Staff also initiated to help us take a photo.
The hot foot bath was great to release the tension of the foot, was pleasantly surprised that they added hot milky water half way through the foot bath to maintain the heat, love that touch of attentiveness. Koyuki and Miyu, our masseuse provided the foot massage for us, they will checked in to make sure that the strength and pressure is suitable for us. Thoroughly enjoyed this massage experience and wished we went for the 30mins massage instead.
Thank you to the masseuse and the staff for...
