Arashiyama Nomura — Restaurant in Kyoto

Excellent café where to relax and stay away from the crowds. This place is a hidden gem and it's incredibly snobbed by the tourists just because it's not on the main road, but 2' away from it. During a hot summer day, we stepped in here to have a refreshing shaved ice cream, which was absolutely delicious. We also had the Kyoto style Okonomiyaki. My girlfriend does not eat meat, so we asked for a vegetarian version and it was not a problem for the staff. This place is a lovely find. A few steps away from the main street in Arashiyama it's a great place to get away from the crowds and enjoy a light meal or traditional Japanese sweet. I had the negiyaki, which was like a Japanese savoury crepe and it was delicious. It was my first time to try it and will definitely order again. I also ordered anmitsu for dessert and a coffee. Beautiful little cafe just a few steps off the main road. The food was delicious. My wife and I had the okonomiyaki pancakes which were fantastic and both had desserts which were a great end to the lunch. The staff were so lovely and spent like 5 minutes trying to translate “palate cleanser” between them for me into english to explain part of my dessert! Just amazing, kind and attentive service. If we are ever back we would visit again without hesitation and recommend to anyone looking for lunch/dessert...
