Vintage clothing store JAM Kyoto shop — Local services in Kyoto

Be aware that if you’re a traveler, you might feel watched and judged a little more closely by the staff. I’m not sure why the other reviews rave about the customer service, but with the staff today (high school/university students), I felt like my boyfriend and I were being observed closely as if I was going to steal?! I was minding my own business looking through the racks when I came in. At first, the staff members did not approach me, but I knew they were watching me, because every single time I walked over to another part of the store, a staff member would walk over and adjust clothes on another rack near me - I had made awkward eye contact with them several times. After I had a single clothing item in my hand, a girl employee with glasses and short hair approached me and asked if I could leave my shopping bag and jacket in the front of the store. I was confused, because I had already been there for 15 minutes, and I didn’t see anyone else being approached to leave their things at the front. Initially, I thought they were being kind with holding my things, but now that I think about it, they probably wanted to take my belongings so I couldn’t hide anything in there.. I visited JAM store 2 days ago and bought my wife a thick Quicksilver jacket, we did not prepare well for our vacation to Japan, it is cold!

This jacket is perfect. The store is so organized and the staff were very helpful. I'm sorry I forgot his name, but the tall man with long hair and goatee, was very kind - helped make further recommendations for next trips, showed us on Google maps and even air dropped coordinates

The store is huge. Staffs were helpful and welcoming. Was served by this good looking gentleman (he has no nametag) who helped me to look for a Burberry Trenchcoat.

I didnt catch his name but thank you for the kind gesture (he helped me to hang my coat while I was browsing through)

However the women’s selection is quite limited. Looking forward to find something else...
