If you are in Kyoto, yes or yes, you have to take a leap for 2050 Coffee, a specialty coffee with a lot of vibes, minimalist and with a futuristic concept that makes it very cool.
Run by the talented Kohei-san, former barista at Kurasu Coffee, this place is the perfect combination of delicious coffee and modern design. At 2050 Coffee, they don't just drink coffee, they also care about its future.
When you arrive, you are hit by the super modern black and gray façade. On the ground floor, you'll find the kitchen and ordering counter, all made with stainless steel and mortar and pestle for a contemporary feel. Plus, the huge windows it has will give you a perfect view of the cafe in action.
The second floor is like entering a show room.
An entire wall is covered in mirrors and three illuminated glass shelves make you feel like you're in a sci-fi scene and where you'll find merchandise from the store.
Oh, and we can't forget the coffee fountains in the center of the cafe. From there, they pour the coffee directly into your cup, creating a fresh and unique experience that will leave you wanting more. And to accompany your drink, they have options such as latte, Americano, kombucha and cascara coffee cherry tea. Don't forget the delicious donuts!
But what really makes 2050 Coffee shine is the incredibly friendly and welcoming team. From the moment you walk in, you are made to feel like you are part of the family. Ready to recommend the best drink according to your tastes and to chat for a while if you feel like it.
So the next time you're walking around Kyoto and fancy a coffee from the future, you know...
Read moreNow thatâs coffee! 2050 Coffee wasnât just a stop on our Kyoto tripâit became a highlight. Originally, it made it onto my bucket list because of the doughnuts, but after trying their coffee, I was absolutely blown away. I ended up going back a second time, and honestly, Iâd go again in a heartbeat.
they open early (8Am i think) and the coffee is next-levelârich, complex, and clearly crafted with care. You can tell they know their beans and their brewing. The staff are incredibly friendly, passionate, and knowledgeable about what they serve. Theyâre happy to chat and give recommendations without being pushyâjust good vibes all around.
The doughnuts are from Venuts in Tokyo, and they are crazy goodâsome of the best Iâve had in Japan. Fresh, flavorful, and just the right balance of sweet without being overwhelming.
The space itself is clean, minimalistic, and invitingâperfect for taking a break, relaxing with a top-tier coffee, and watching the world go by. Whether you're a specialty coffee nerd or just want a solid brew in a cool spot, 2050 Coffee is 100% worth a stop.
Highly recommended. Easily a 10/19...

2050 had a minimalist esthetic and had a nice selection of coffee and vegan donuts. I had the apple cinnamon and it was the right amount of sweetness and body. They are all cake donuts, so yeast lovers must search elsewhere! đŠ
We had the latte, which was amazing, but they also offer cold coffee on tap, at least 5 varieties when I visited. Beans are sold in 80g and 180g bags (my apologies if I'm off on those measurements).
The staff was very nice and helpful! They can also speak English, so no worries if you're Japanese isn't good enough to order. Great for a quick respite while exploring...
