Basketball courts — Local services in Tokyo

This is a pretty cool park, and the people are friendly enough. I went there randomly on a Monday at 11 a.m., and people were there. There was a guy on the Japanese international team and a couple of others who clearly had at least an appreciation for the game.

I wouldn't consider it on the competitive level on like a big college campus in America, or in certain areas in NYC, or even Long Island. However, you can go there and have some fun and run some games.

I heard Thursdays and weekends are when the park gets packed. So if you want serious runs, go then. I would have gone, but my vacation was wrapping up before I learned about the times to come there.

Lol, it was cool that the people there did want me to see their competition, though. I appreciate the hospitality...

Popular in the afternoon and evening, where you can get a good run in on either of the two courts. One of the few full courts in Tokyo, and it does not disappoint. The adjacent track has flood lights which stay lit into the night, closing around 9pm, after which the courts are dimly lit by park lights.

Would 100% recommend for those looking at getting some good streetball vibes, somewhat similar to that of LA or NYC (Venice beach, Laguna, Brooklyn bridge, etc), though ofc not...

Basketball is the same around the world and that's why I love it. I'm from Hawaii and coming to the Yoyogi Basketball Courts was just like back home.
