BicCamera Shinjuku East Store is a massive electronics paradise located right next to Shinjuku Station's East Exit, making it incredibly convenient for tourists to visit. The iconic yellow and blue signage is visible from the station, so you won't get lost even in the maze-like Shinjuku area.
This 8-floor megastore is a one-stop destination for all your electronics shopping in Japan. The tax-free counter is easily accessible on the first floor, and the staff at information desks can assist you in multiple languages, including English and Chinese. Remember to bring your passport to qualify for tax-free shopping!
Each floor has a specific focus: cameras and smartphones on lower floors, gaming and entertainment systems in the middle, and home appliances on upper floors. The camera section is particularly impressive, offering everything from affordable point-and-shoot cameras to professional equipment, often at better prices than in other countries. Popular items among tourists include Japanese rice cookers, beauty appliances like hair dryers, gaming consoles, and cutting-edge smartphones.
A major advantage is their excellent warranty and shipping services. They can arrange international shipping for large purchases, and many products come with global warranty coverage. The store also offers convenient mobile payment options including major international credit cards, UnionPay, Alipay, and WeChat Pay.
Shopping tips for international visitors: The busiest times are weekends and evenings after 5 PM Morning hours (10 AM - noon) are the best for peaceful shopping Price tags show both tax-included and tax-free prices Most product manuals have English versions available Some Japanese domestic products may have voltage compatibility issues, so always check with staff The store often runs special promotions for foreign tourists
The store's location next to numerous hotels and the main Shinjuku transport hub makes it perfect for either starting your day of shopping or dropping by just before heading back to your accommodation. There's also a pleasant cafe on the top floor where you can rest and plan your purchases while enjoying a view of the bustling Shinjuku...
Read moreMy favourite shop in Shinjuku among all those great Bic Camera retailers fleet all selling cameras/IT/Electronic gadgets/Sports + other all-that-jazz. It can rival their flagship shop in Akihabara, I believe.
As a matter of fact, I’ve spent a lot of useful and wasteful money on Bic Camera since they were still a small player only in Ikebukuro many years back. I still return to the film camera and telescope corner here (3F?) in nostalgia and an urge of materialistic desire.
Nonetheless, the virtues of this shop for me are: Basically rarely overcrowded even in the heart of Shinjuku. You can take time and space for shopping. The bicycle/cycle gear corner on B3F is very convenient and reasonable in an even calmer environment. The authorized Apple shop/repair desk on B2F is also hassle-free unlike the hectic Apple Store Shinjuku nearby. KEY’S CAFÉ on B1F by the underground entrance is, again, reasonable, neat location and somewhat pretty relaxing. The shop is run by Bic directly, so you can collect or use the Bic points here.
There are surely more to it but I'll need to earn more money to further exploit this place and I'm...
Read moreI like to shop at Big Camera every time when I visit to Japan as it has a wide variety of products and is not as crowded as other drug stores. I was satisfied in my past shopping experience. However, this time I got upset by a middle aged Chinese speaking female staff at cosmetic/skin care section as she was extremely rude. I was shopping at skincare section with a basket of my favourite brand of skin care products(I have been using this brand for some time). This female staff came to me and started speaking to me in Chinese without confirming if I understood the language. She looked at the products in my basket and said no one bought this brand. Then she tried to sell me a different brand that I had never heard of. She claimed that local Japanese liked to use this brand. After I said no thank you to her, she started judging my skin and said I was strange to buy this brand(my favourite brand) but not the brand she recommended. Then she walked off. After that I checked with my Japanese friends about the brand that the staff recommended. They said they had never heard...
