This is a review of Delta international from Haneda because Delta isn’t listed separately on Google Maps.
Sure, things go wrong, but the Delta staff at Haneda makes it all much worse. They handle things about as badly as they can possibly be handled. Absolute dumpster fire level customer service. I love the Delta lounge and I was going to say I’d try to fly Delta just for that in the future, but not worth it.
Just the worst communication and generally terrible at their jobs. Granted, I was there on a snowy evening. They told us we were going, they pushed back the flight, but they didn’t push out that information timely so I left the lounge at least twice before learning of the delay—as did all of the other patrons, and the poor staff were breaking everything down because it was supposed to be the last Delta flight of the evening, then people flooded back in.
Then we got on the plane at 11pm and they kept saying were leaving soon, then having ridiculous issues and telling us it would be another hour or 45 minutes. The flight crew blamed some delay on the ground crew—they said they don’t often de-ice and they’re bad at it so they ran out of fluid and had to go get more, adding at least 45 minutes. After 4 hours onboard with little information, and no services but one bottle of water, they finally cancelled the flight but said the customs officers had to be called back and we had to sit for another hour. So I couldn’t even just go to sleep because it was always just another 45 minutes or an hour. Then they sort of told us a little bit, and set up a table with two staff members to answer individual questions rather than pushing out information in any kind of efficient way. They didn’t do bag storage and nothing was open, and the trains weren’t working yet because it was 4am.
Delta offered a refund of about $200 for taxi and hotel, and we had to figure it out ourselves, but a taxi anywhere is about $60, so that didn’t cover much and I’m sure actually getting reimbursement will be hellacious.

Read moreI have transit trough the international terminal #3 here at Haneda airport a few times. In my experience as a non Japanese Language speaker it has been very easy to get directed and find where you need to go. The stuff that works for the airport are dedicated people that aid in the process of getting travelers where they need to be. High 5 for that part of the experience. Terminal 3 is large and very easy to understand. Signs everywhere tell you where shops, gates, food spaces, and lounge as are. (Normal any airport stuff) The airport is now linked to an amazing onsen and hotel call villa Fontaine grand. If you are spending between 5 and 18 hours lay over. This is your place. People don’t even have to go to the street to get to it. Once you pick up your luggage and go trough immigration you can just walk the hallway into the hotel/spa. And believe me it’s worth it every penny. Top service and great accommodations.
Now if you stay in the terminal (any reason, not worth moving/ time/ money vs time) You may find very reduced options for what I call normal lounging. The food courts inside definitely leave more to desire. Not because of the vendors food; but the installations are pretty simple. There are not bar restaurants, there are not comfortable chairs to say enjoy a couple of drinks. It is very informal ‘food court with only one vendor selling beer or alcohol . The worst part is that you may not find a place to sit after a 30 to 45 minute wait to order food and something to drink. My advise is if you are staying here over 3 or 4 hours. To purchase a ticket to any of the lounges in advance. Nonlinear, free snake and drinks. And avoid long lines that are uncomfortable , long and you may have to end up eating standing up. Only bar spot: Bar Rave A few options for food around it....
Read moreOne of the best airports in the world; Staff is always so helpful, the airport is run efficiently, and the services provided in the airport are outstanding. They have a wonderful observation deck (old school airport outside observation area) to watch airplane traffic, and the restaurants offered in the airport are varied and delicious.
Supposedly, Haneda airport also has the incredible reputation of never losing a single piece of luggage that comes through their system. True or not, not sure; But the staff is always courteous and friendly, and the airplane volume is pretty impressive (for being the smaller of the two airports servicing Tokyo).
There was a major accident of a JAL airline and Coast Guard plane on the runway a year or so ago, but this was human error, and not the fault of the airport. Overall, one of the best airports in the world, and I've been in a bunch of them.
Transportation away from the airport is also extensive, with a major station for the Keikyu line, Tokyo Monorail, as well as...
