My daughter and I stayed at this hotel five days and we absolutely loved it! Service is outstanding, the staff is kind and very attentive. We got a bottle of water each evening when returning from our day trips; the morning staff knew how we liked our eggs cooked and everyone was ready to help with any request. We booked a Japanese style room and loved it. The futon was on the thin side so it may not be ideal for someone over 150 lbs. The room and bathroom were spaceous compared to almost any other hotel (non-luxury) in Japan. Our room had a nice table by the window and a nice view to the street, which is also rare because most hotels will have either tiny or no window, with a view to the wall or building next door, so we enjoyed sitting on the table to recap our highlights of the day. The area is beautiful and has lots of restaurants, izakayas and coffee shops at walking distance. Akihabara is only a 15-20 minute walk away, the Imperail Palace is 15 minute subway ride, etc. There are different subway lines connecting the area with other parts of the city and since there are two universities nearby, there are lots of bookstores and shops. We stayed at a different hotel in Shibuya and we hated it so much that we cancelled the last two days and came back to our beloved ryokan. Anyone searching for a genuine Japanese experience, and interested in learning the cultural nuances of this unique nation will enjoy staying here over a western style hotel. We look forward to...
Read moreStayed for 4 nights back in dec 2017 as a solo female traveller in the smallest single room. It was quite a squeeze with my luggage but apart from that everything else was clean and comfortable. Had a relaxing time in the public baths which were also very clean with all amenities provided. Next to the baths, there is a small recreational room with massage chairs which were also great after a long day of walking! I loved the basic breakfast which was just right for me, the eggs were cooked very well and all in all it was a wholesome meal. Best thing about the stay was the hotel staff who were extremely courteous and could speak pretty good english! it’s a small hotel so they could recognise me and give me my key without even asking for my name. Helped me to book several restaurants as well as the airport shuttle bus. At the end of my stay, they gave a cute little farewell gift and even stood outside the hotel to bid farewell until I walked to the end of the street! ||Location wise, it is ok with around 3 subway stations located nearby. It is a quaint neighbourhood which I enjoyed after staying in...
Read moreThis is a lovely place to stay and I would highly recommend it. The place feels like you are visiting family. The space is clean and well maintained. The staff are so kind, friendly and welcoming. They include a nice Japanese breakfast every morning in their breakfast space. At night, the breakfast space turns into a really cute jazz bar run by a friendly bartender with an extensive record collection. I unfortunately didn’t have time to visit their bathhouse in the basement.
The location is also great. It’s out of the way from the touristy spots in a clean neighborhood dedicated to music instruments, book stores, and universities. The food options nearby are really good and it’s centrally located. Lots of places in Tokyo are 30 minutes or less to get to by train.
A final note - this is a smoking friendly hotel. Our smoking room didn’t bother us, but if you don’t like smoking smells I’d suggest you book a...
