Sugi Pharmacy Shimbashi Station Front Store — Local services in Tokyo

Simple, do not go here, at least as a foreigner. We had the pleasure to visit this drug store during our two trips in late 2024 twice. During our first visit, we were in need of a medicine for the throat of a family member, who caught a cold. The second time, we searched for something to help with constipation. Doesn't sound too hard, does it? When we first visited, we asked a store clerk about a medicine we found online as we didn't know the word and described the symptoms. She shook her head, pointed towards the big shelf with all kind of medicines and left without a another word. We found what we were looking for (mind you, the exact name we found online) and left, thinking she might have had a bad day. Eight weeks later we were back in Tokyo, back in this store. Again we knew the name and asked again describing the symptoms, this time to a guy in a white suit. He looked at the name and picture, shrug his head making an X with his hands and waved at the person behind me to come forward, completely ignoring me.

We then went to the drug store closer to the station and immediately got what we searched for, from a real kind staff member and his colleague. So I am not sure if they don't like foreigners or us in specific, but you better take your money somewhere else, there are lots of better...

Dropped by after dinner to pick up some stuff and make up products for friends and family. The staff asked if we were looking for anything so I showed her what I was looking for, the Chinese staff instantly looked annoyed and mentioned that they didn't carry these products and offered to show me similar products, I declined since my friends knew that only these specific products works on their sensitive skin. The staff then mentioned rudely in mainland chinese that I can always try another product since there were so many products out there. I then replied in chinese saying it's fine and walked away... She had a look of surprise when I replied in chinese, thank God I understood stood Japanese, English & Chinese so that I can reply her... Is that the attitude you should give a customer?

Seems like the shop is mainly ran by Chinese staff as well, only saw one Japanese staff. Would not visit this shop again, would rather visit other authentic Japanese...

Good variety of selections and very convenient location. The only thing is that it's closing at 11pm so didn't have too much time to shop but overall very satisfied with...
