As others have observed, Tokyo is very expensive and space comes at a premium. Last time I stayed at the Ginza Courtyard, which I liked and recommend. I have to say, this hotel is not far behind at about 40% of the price. We took the Keisei Access Express Train [not the Skyliner] all the way from Narita to Shimbashi for about $10 each. We doggedly followed exit A-3 out [even when it looked like we were walking up a stairwell in a high-rise building.] We found the hotel three blocks from the station on the first try! We arrived at noon and were checked right in. Throughout the stay, English was not great but worked. The room is small BUT I had space for the luggage stand and my suitcase. View was utilitarian but offered good natural light. The weird, free wifi router worked like a charm. Little fridge and tea kettle much appreciated. Bathroom small but fully functional, abundant hot water. Bed hard but I slept like a rock. AC was great with fan controls. I thought the standard of cleanliness was quite high or I wouldn't even consider it again. Right on the edge of the Ginza District. You can walk or Subway to any where. No breakfast but 7-11, Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds and endless Japanese options at every turn. I paid $101 a night. Exceptional value. I'd stay again in...
Read moreIt was the very first time I have NOT been greeted by staff when walking into reception. The paunchy older man just looked at us and said.. passports? Very odd for Japan. All other staff we dealt with were lovely. Our initial room was a smoking room so the next morning we asked to be moved and this was not a problem for the lovely female staff member. No view from the small window, just a view of some ugly back stairs. The hotel is older but very clean and rooms are 22sqm. The hotel is a 5-10 min walk from Shimbashi station which is very convenient. The beds were hard as were the pillows. The bed covers are old fashioned and I can't understand why the hotel does not just change them to something more modern. The plastic unit bathroom was small but fine with a step up to get into so no good for someone with mobility issues..Bath was bigger than most unit baths in Japan. A few "mens clubs" around and touts on corners. Also have to say very quiet. We did not hear other guests at all or noises outside except...
Read moreJapan...and its biggest Challenge, SPACE...after searching dozens of hotels all had a "minidouble bed" touching the walls so your partner spouse has to wake up if you need to get out of bed. My search was over when I found Ginza Inter. Hotel. The rooms (if you book the right one) are huge with standard KING BED in it...barthroom ok, 100 metres from Tiffany & Co. What else would you like. At night, the rich Ginza fills with ladies with the most beautiful dresses and politeness heading to restaurants. Ginza hotel is equidistant to ALL areas to visit in Tokyo...you can dazzle yourself walking one way 5 to 10km and return back. Ginza Hotel has direct G8 Metro line to Shimbasi crossing which is end of line. I could not recommend this hotel as the BEST experience ever in Tokyo. Bathroom has bath which helped to aliviate tiredness from walking 100km a week. Thanks forever to Ginza, its magic King Size Room, its location and my favourite, its price!!! Remember to book a large...
