Dated room with beautiful view of Akaroa lake

Liked - Room 1 had a beautiful view of the Akaroa lake from its balcony. We enjoyed the sunset views from the room's balcony. Lyndal was very pleasant and patient with her explanation at the reception! The room is located near all the amenities in the town centre so it was very convenient to move around on foot.

Disliked - The room was very dated, with old cabinets and old bathroom fittings. There were old, mismatched hangers and two of them were already broken. As there was no air conditioning, it was hard to regulate the temperature of the room. It was above the Aihe restaurant area so the music went on till late. We found it hard to sleep with the noise. The entrance to Room 1 was from a back alley so it was not a very pleasant entrance. The key drop could be placed in a prominent location so that it is easy for guests to drop off the keys if they need to check out before the...

My big gripe with my stay is that the sea view photo prominently displayed on the booking website was a balcony which clearly overlooked the beach and sea - and looked a great place to sit and relax. That is what I was expecting to enjoy during my stay. Instead the sea view I got was from a balcony overlooking a concrete block building across the road, and the sea being visible if I looked to my right down the road where the sea was visible between the buildings on either side of the road at its end.|Otherwise the apartment was clean, comfortable and spacious and we liked its location as far as exploring Akaroa. The lighting in the bedroom we used was a bit low - could be a bit brighter. We also couldn't get the kitchen lights to work (all others seemed to). We did not alert the staff as perhaps we should have - but at that stage I had seen them about the different-from-expected sea view and didn't feel like going back about the...

Nice reception from the manager. On arrival l was given a small jar of milk, which was good for a cuppa. Initially the rooms impacted as spacious, tidy, clean, and well presented Lovely lourved doors/windows, easy to operate. Bed was very comfortable and warm with more than enough blankets. However, looking closer we saw tired and damaged paintwork, which could do with touchups or even a repaint. There has been no lighting in the lounge area except for a side lamp. We approached management twice without it being successfully resolved, (it may be an ongoing issue). The outside patio needed TLC. The towels were so thin I could see through one of them. That may have been an oversight on the house keeping side, because the second lot were much better quality. We do congratulate on the handy location to all amenties. All in all we...
