Updating from 4 years ago - We would now not come to this establishment again. 50 minutes after ordering we had to approach and ask if our food was coming - we were told there was an issue in the kitchen and the kitchen staff were standing doing nothing. We appreciate that hospitality face issues and could understand that things happen out of their control, but to not advise us so we could decide whether to stay or go (this was a lunch hour). At no stage did they approach us. But it was the attitude of the woman behind the counter that really made this terrible. She was not a pleasant woman in any regard and should not be dealing with customers in my opinion. If this interaction had been different we would be willing to try this place again. We were then told 15 minutes for food if we could please wait. We decided to stay and wait. The food was deplorable. Dumplings were stone cold, uncooked lumps of thick dough. One bit which had to be spit out. The Lamb burgers 'I could have got a better burger at a chip shop' The fish 'So dry and overcooked but I was starving by this point so I ate it' The noodles 'ew, but I needed to eat something by this stage' For this price point - it was actually quite laughable and ridiculous. The only redeeming feature may have been the service from our head waiter who may have been the manager - he was very sincere and apologetic but it doesn't make up for the fact we weren't advised of any delays and the food was so bad. Not one person from our group has said they would go back.
Love this setting. Friendly keen staff. Great space indoor and out. The brunch food let it down a little. Very oily vegetables, very dry rosti, burnt bacon, over cooked eggs, but altogether it was ok. And on first table discounted greatly so can't complain about the price. Paying full price may have...
Read moreThe Thirsty Peacock is a lovely place for after works drinks or a lovely meal with friends or family. The battered gurnard and fries I had was perfectly prepared and the cauliflower steak was a lovely vege friendly option had by my dining companion. The Yorkshire pudding sharing platter we had at the beginning was also delicious. However, for only 3 pieces I believe it is a little pricey and I probably would have elected to have gone for another sharing dish or a light main if I'd have had that knowledge in advance. Nevertheless, all the dishes were beautifully paired with vegetables that were excellently prepared and which had not had the life sucked out of them. The mains are generous in portion and unfortunately left us full for dessert. The desserts menu looked very appetizing! Their drinks menu is also very good and the bar area was a hive of happiness. Overall, we loved our time there and the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to attend to us. A very clean, warm and inviting establishment we'd definitely be delighted to...
Read moreSadly very very disappointed. A group of six of us went for lunch. Three of us ordered the lunch salad. Two salmon and one chicken. The chicken salad was just lettuce. Four pieces of chicken (half a thigh) one tablespoon of feta cheese and a sprinkle of canned red peppers. Definitely not worth the money. The salmon salad was the same. Just lettuce. Service was nonexistent we had to actually get up put our masks on and find our waiter to get drinks, order food- actually anything we needed we had to put our mask on and find staff. Food was slow, Plates weren’t taken away, desserts not offered. We all felt like we were not wanted!! So I called to make a complaint. The man who answered listened but shut down every point I made. Then mentioned he wasn’t the manager and he would call me as this type of feedback is important!!...
