The three of us were here for lunch on a Sunday - it looked like there were quite a few reserved tables so we were offered a table outside since there were none available inside. It was quite cold, so once I saw a table open up inside, I asked if we could be moved inside, to which we were told no because the table was reserved. Later on, the staff offered us blankets and that was super appreciated.
As for the food, it is pretty delicious. I do understand the reviews about it being a little soggy - it does sit on the line of being a really good pizza and being a slightly soggy pizza in the middle. But the crust, is to die for. It’s so soft and chewy, there are not many other restaurants that can do a pizza crust like this.
The price is where it loses a star for me. They do make good food, but the price point is quite steep for a restaurant that isn’t considered “fine dining” where one would expect to be paying a higher price for the experience along with the food. 1 pizza costs around 35-40, and a hungry male could finish the entire pizza and probably have room left for few bites of a side and dessert.
Overall, I would go back, but my...
Read moreFood: We ordered the queen margarita pizza ($28), Fries ($17) and calamari ($23). The food was below average at best the marg pizza came with literally 3 small pieces of basil, the sauce tasted as though from a cheap spaghetti can and overall was just a sloppy mess. The calamari was beyond rubber; I can feel my stomach churning as I am writing this review, and the chips ($17!!!) were worse than store bought frozen fries.
Service: The service also wasn’t great, the female waitress was very aggressive in manner, really made you feel like she didn’t want you to be there at all. Could be because of poor management as I have read in other reviews.
Cost: Very very…. Very overpriced for the quality of the food. If the food had been good I would be able to justify the $92… yes $92 total for pizza, chips, calamari and two drinks.
Overall I feel like these guys are just taking advantage of the good location and don’t give a rip about the customers experience. Save you’re money and go to dominos...
Read moreI had pizza from this place through delivery, since the last couple of months. More importantly, the pizza I had was cold; I needed to ensure it was warm, as a result. I also recall that the pizza delivery from this place took a long time. No wonder my pizza was cold. Otherwise, the pizza itself was alright, after I warmed it up. But, I personally thought it was nothing to rave about. I just expected the pizza to be served warm, not cold! That was a let down for me. However, there's something else I must discuss.
What is it with one of the staff members, within the confines of Dante's Pizzeria Takapuna? When I walked by Dante's Pizzeria in Takapuna, during March on Saturday, a strange woman fixated her gaze upon me from the window indoors. No lights were on inside, however. This peculiar encounter before the clock had struck midday, it's opening hour, left me with a lingering suspicion. Overall, I have very mixed impressions about Dante's Pizzeria Takapuna. I'd give this place 2.5...
