PAK'nSAVE Tauriko — Local services in North Island

Had a bad experience there, thought i might try it again hoping there mightve been an improvement, still bad.

Visit one: Butchery items didn't look very fresh and the price for the amount/quality you get in the butchery, bakery and produce were worse than the other 2 paknsaves. Wanted to purchase a baguette for lunch but they were skinny right in the middle, about the size of 3 pencils held togther, i went to ask the bakery if they had any better ones since these were shoking and the lady said those were all they had. While speaking there was an indian looking lady in the bakery around the corner preparing food and coughing real badly over the food she was preparing without covering her mouth, other employees who were chatting to her said nothing, which youd think they would as its disgusting. None of them were wearing gloves either. employee's down the pasta isle were also rude when asking where to find an item.

Visit 2: i tried to make this a shorter visit as I was running late and only needed something for lunch and some milk. I decided to check out the deli as the bakery was unhygienic last visit. After about 5 minutes of waiting a white young lady finally comes to ask me what I need after glancing at me throughout that long wait, I ask her for some chicken and fries that were there, she stared at me for a moment looking confused and then says oh uh ok do you want salt. Who wouldn't want salt on their fries? That's an unessassary question. After I say yes she almost falls over holding the box while turning to put salt on. She was being very slow during this whole process and looked lost when sorting out the barcode for it then stood there and almost seemed to forget to give me the food. I can't tell if she's on drugs or just tired, if she's tired, or has some mental dissabilaty then I feel sympathy and am sorry but if it's drugs the company is slack for allowing them to serve. The chips were dry and the chicken was chewy and oily at the same time. Rip off

Disgusted by how my 17 year old son and his 4 friends were treated yesterday. We drove the 5 of them down in two cars from Waihi to the Crossing so they could go to the movies and spend some time shopping. Before we left we waited in the cars and the boys went into Pak’n’Save to grab some drinks and snacks to take back with them but while they were choosing, they were harassed by a staff member telling them they were taking too long looking and they had to leave the store. They were particularly focused on one of my son’s friends and at one stage they actually grabbed him when he had done nothing wrong. To test the theory that the staff were being racist, one of my son’s friends with blonde hair and fair skin walked back in lapped the entire store, purchased something and wasn’t followed or thrown out. My son’s friend they were focused on took one step towards the front door and the staff member ran at him and grabbed him telling him he wasn’t allowed in. Then the Crossing security came along and told them Pak’n’Save is private property and they have the right to not let them in. Well they don’t have to worry because I won’t be going there and spending money in their store anymore, Cameron Road is a better store anyway. I honestly didn’t think I needed to chaperone 17 year olds in the supermarket. We are all sickened by their racist behaviour. I hope the mature white male staff member gets spoken to about this and maybe he should be made to wear a pink shirt to remind him to accept all kinds and bullying...

Best PNS in the area in terms of store setup although they don't stock all products. High purchased items aren't restocked. 1 particular item was out of stock for over 2 weeks and shelf was left empty. Farmbake cookies they don't stock but there's similar but inferior brand they stock (as perhaps those are their own private label brand) Online shopping experience also good.

Update 8.2.2020 Store is looking very sparse with stock throughout I should have taken photos of them all empty shelves! Frustrating. Brands I like they no longer carry, etc. For sure certain brands trying to dominate the business why a grocery this size not giving options to their customers I don't understand. An example here is no single pizza sauce to be seen!! Not even up above or in the stock room. Might as well don't sell the pizza base?! And staff didn't like hearing my feedback, can see from their faces your feedback is not welcomed.

Update 24.9.2020 Stock issue has been improved, well done. this is my local so I shopped here often. Although still I have to go to other supermarkets to get other things as they still not give customers options! Not selling baby carrots, don't look for one here. Cleaning products can only see chux or value (the expensive and the cheap, where's the in between? Don't want to spend money on Chux but don't want...
